not getting spark
hi
i have an 86 honda accord and one day i was driving it and pulled over and then restarted it. After restarting it, it died in seconds. After that it wouldnt start. We popped the clutch and it would run at high rpms but after it died again it wouldnt start. I have replaced the cap, rotor, plugs, wires, fuel filters and now the coil, but i just found out im not getting spark even after i replaced the coil...it acts like it really wants to kick over but it just isnt. any help would be appreciated. thanx

Are you sure it's spark and not fuel? If your positive it's spark, check your grounds. A buddy of mine had a bad/corroded ground on his alternator that was preventing his prelude from running, don't ask me how this is but after he cleaned it, it started right up.
I have been all over the net trying to find answers as to why my 92 Honda accord won't start. I finally found that Honda's seem to have a problem with the main relay. It is located under the dash on the driver side. I intend to replace mine as soon as I can find someone that can tell me exactly where it is located. I stood on my head forever looking, and there is just to much stuff under there. I know what I am looking for, but just don't know exactly where to look.
Does anyone have a wiring diagram that they can post for me? Or photos, something, anything.
Thanks.

hmmm....did it just die out of the clear blue....cuz mine will start if i pop the clutch so thats another reason why im stumped...so like txtuner said it could be the alternator since when u pop the clutch ur bypassing the alternator....thanx
No, mine is an automatic. I have been all over the web, and it seems that the most common problem is the main relay.
When it's hot outside my car just won't start. It will start early in the morning, and late in the afternoon. It's especially bad when it's setting in the sun. So, I have just located the part I need, which was no easy task. I will go get the relay either later today, or early tomorrow morning.
It doesn't look like a hard job, just have to stand on my head to get to the thing. lol.
I also bouhgt a Haynes manual so, if that is not the problem I will just keep going until I find the problem. I really love my car or I wouldn't even go through this.
Thanks for the reply

ya i heard that in another forum too...that the symtoms to your car is the main relay but no one can seem to tell me what is wrong with my car...I dont see any wires that are bad or disconnected or ne thing so i have no clue. The guy at the pars store and honda said they thought it was the control module but then they said no cuz since you can pop the clutch...so i am so cofused as to what my diagnostis is.
