Default Removing cable speedo drive

Does anyone have any tips for removing the cable speedo drive from the ED D-series transmission?

I was trying to take it out transfer to my JDM Y1 tranny..

but it wont come out .. ive tried all sorts of things .. penetrating lube + attaching vice grips + prying vice grips... etc.. wiggling on it... putting an axle back in to turn it...

the stupid shaft that the clip goes into came out but the actual speedo drive unit itself is still in there..

i dont know if its just old and so "in there" and happy where it is ... and covered in splooge... that it just doesnt want to come out or what....

and yes i took the little clamp off

any tips?... if i cant get it out .. can i buy one of these separately? i dont see it listed on http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com
