Default Car not wanting to run right after cleaning engine bay

Well
I cleaned up my car today.
I decided that I would clean the engine compartment. (Simple green and a good hose down)
I left the car running while doing so. After washing and finishing up the rest of the car drying it off. I went to move my car. It died immediately after it had idle fine for at least 30 mins.
Then wouldn't start back up.

I pulled off the spark wires on the distributor end. One didn't come off right and left the metal connector stuck on the terminal. After messing around with that for a while I got it to fit back on the wire end and connect back up to the distributor.

After that the car started right up like nothing happened.
The only thing is now when you put the car into gear and start to let out the clutch the car starts to sputter and hick up. You have to mash the pedal to floor and take back out of gear and let up on the clutch so it doesn't die.
Anything else while it sits running out of gear is fine, revs fine runs with lights one and also the A/C, just doesn’t want to run when you put it into gear and proceeded to accelerate forward or reverse

What could be the problem? Do I need to wait and let it dry out some more?

Also I'll probably replace my plug wires tomorrow since the one is kind of messed up now. What is a good brand to get?

Thanks
Hope this makes since.

Do you have your stock intake or not? If you got water on an aftermarket intake when the car was running it might have sucked in water.

Have you pulled the plugs out? Maybe you should get a new set because you're definitely having a spark problem. My dumbass did the same thing that you did. I filled a sparkplug hole up with water, f'ed up a plug and had to go to Vato Zone for a new set. Do that, and you should be OK.

As far as your plug wires go, I've used MSD, Magnecore, Bae Ding, and Nology. There really isn't that much of a difference especially if your car isn't heavily modified. Just get the wires you can get a good deal on.

Moisture in the distributor cap maybe... Have you looked into that?

Clean the points on cap using sand paper. If that don't work then replace wires

He left car running while doing this and it does start so dizzy didn't freeze. Clean the points on the cap...next time cover dizzy and alternator. And try not to spay too much water where the electrical is.

Got it running.
Just had to give it some time to dry out.
No probs now!
Changed my plug wires since I messed the one up when taking it off.

Just thought it was tad odd since I had done this at least 5 times before with now poblems.

Thanks for the input guys!
