Default Need help... stupid problem.

I just did an entire clutch/ transmission job... no problem!

At the end of the night, we're finishing things up, go to attatch the tie-rod to the hub, the bolt get's stripped. So we go to the store, buy TRW tierods, and they are 2 thread's short of being able to catch the nut. We have even bought new tie-rod covers that were thinner, and those too did not work.

So I am wondering, is there some magical way to allign the hub, do I need to jack it up off the ground, etc? This is a very simple job on any other car, but for some reason, this hasn't been easy.

(1990 Honda Civic DX) Thanks for any help!

I realize this seems like an amazingly simple problem... but I have stripped several tie-rods... I am not sure if it is rust inhibiting the ends to get through the bore, but if someone could go through a run through of what they did, that'd be great.

Remember this is on a 1990, so the parts are rusted and warped. Do you use heat, align the wheels? Thanks for your help!

Thnx for the bump... I really appreciate everyone else's help to ....

Well I figured out the problem, never trust a Haynes Repair book... they had us putting the tie rod the wrong allignement, because thats how it was on the older models. Anyway, cars on the road, clutch is great, everything running just fine!
