noise in b18b
just swapped in a b18b into my 95 hatch. i start it up and i here a clanking noise that sounds like it is coming from the block. when i drive you can here it clanging faster as i hit the gas. and when i am at idle you can hardly here it until i rev the motor up it makes the metal type noise at the drop of the rpms. one guy told me its the throw out bearing, what do you think.also the engine runs very strong.and the ide is fine. thanx
first of all if the car is making noise with a clutch engaged it won't be throw out bearing.
I fear the worst, crazzy piston slap (seen it happen, alot), or spun rod bearing (also common). Motor is junk, if you want rebuild it. Sorry.

sounds like a spun bearing. if you keep revving it up youll get a rod or part of one peaking through your block. you dont want that. drop the motor and do a build.
this is the reason why I won't buy a motor unless I straight up tell the guy if there is some big mechanical problem that I wasn't told about I'm going to drop the engine back where I found it and I want my money back.
