what is the vtec pressure valve? when rpms pass 5,700... vtec goes on and off and it only does this sumtimes and other times it seems like there is no vtec at all. does anyone have any idea what could be going wrong? oh and by the way, i've changed my vtec solenoid already and same result.

 

The solenoid isn't the problem. Code 22 refers to the presure switch. The first hting I check when I see this code is the oil level.

The reason you're going in and out of vtec might be because your oil pressure is at the border line where it should kick in. That's why it might be inconsistent.

 

that makes sense but how do i fix the pressure switch problem with the oil pressure??? please!!!!!! my car has been like this for months now. thanks.

Is the engine oil level full? What does the oil presure run at?

 

Was your wiring redone due to a swap or something. That's what happened to me. The knock sensor wasn't hooked up properly and I was getting a code 22 all the time. Once I rechecked the wiring, everything was fine.

 

I have the same problem. Only I have hondata and knock sensor is disabled. I sometimes (more often than I like) get a sputtering when vtec engages. This heppens in 3rd gear and it feels like the car is convulsing like its having an attack. Don't know what to do to fix it... It does it in 4th and 5th gear too pretty consistently and every so often will do that in 2nd gear as well. wtf?

 

the wiring is stock VX vtec obd1 wiring... im pretty sure vtecs there 1st and 2nd gear sumwhat and after 3rd it starts cutting off and on... i just got an oil pressure gauge and am waiting to hook it up to see if that is the problem.
