b20/vtec, ls/vtec, or rebuild the b16a into eg?
i got my hatch finnaly. my wife smashed our delsol vtec about a month or so ago and i bought it back from the insurance and the bought a 92 DX because hatches are way lighter and better looking IMO. the motor needs a rebuild because it smokes bad in vtec and has over 210xxxmi on it.
Now I'm torn. the original plan was to rebuild the b16a but the rebuild kits on these motors are like $500. so i started looking for alternatives. i could use the head on an ls or a b20 and not have to rebuild. i find b20's for stupid cheap everywhere online but the ls motors seem to still pull $1k or more depending on where you look. i only have $1500 to use and i kinda want to get wheels, tires and some suspension also.
what the hell should i do? i hear the b20 isnt reliable unless i get bigger injectors and a VAFC. the LS seems to expensive. the rebuild on the b16 seems like more of a pain than its worth.
HELP ME!!!!

believe me it's going to cost alot more then $500 to rebuild that motor good, and besides it won't be the same. Just buy a used jdm longblock.
And you got the whole b20 idea wrong, AFC won't help it's reliability. Infact if you wonna go into fuel managment, uberdata is alot better and cheaper.
The problem is that you can't rev it as high as b16 for that long, and you will have problems with it. It will be really hard to fit into $1500 on that build, unless you got hook ups.
Pretty much the same thing with LS/vtec. When you build an engine you got to build it right.
I would look for b16 long block, or if you get lucky find a b18c1.
