Ever thought a Civic 4D could beat Lamborghinis, Evolutions and Lotus Exige/Elise?

That is an awesome read...I really like that 4door Civic powered by a K20a...it's suprising that Honda would not sell that here in the States...

Trivia: the refuelling guy works in welding at the factory and drives a Nissan Skyline GTS-t. Wonder if he'll switch to a 2.0 Civic now?
Do you think we'll see more USDM DC5R conversions on Civic 4Drs, with some help from Hasport now? If I remember correctly a 2.0 powered Civic finished 2nd in a 'Tuner shootout' in Car & Driver.
Media coverage wasn't so good, so I'm not sure if anyone in the US will publish the news. Should get this into Honda Tuning, etc.

Well, to brag just a little, did you guys know that a 1993 Civic coupe powered by IT legal D16Z6 engine w/a stock diff won its class & came in 2nd overall out of 47 cars @ the 2002 12 Hours of Thunderhill. The only car that beat it was a M3. It beat 4 other M3's, a 944, a couple of 924's & a GT2 Porche. It also beat all the Spec Miata & RX-7's that ran including a 2nd gen & the Sport Racers.
It was priceless.

Currently only Honda Malaysia & Thailand sell a 2.0 Civic and it's being pushed more of a sport/luxury car than an all out performance car.
More Trivia: Eddie Lew works as a Honda salesman for dealer Yong Ming Honda in the south. Farriz Fauzy's father owns Millenium Honda. Both are quiet, humble guys who said very little, but let their actions speak volumes!
Wonder if sales of Enkei RPF1 (Car #27) or ES-Tarmac (Car #26) will go up now?

The motor in the Malay Civic sedans is basically the same 160 HP K20A3 motor that is stock on the USDM EP3 Si still being sold here.
The K20A2 200 HP and the K20A 220 HP motors would bolt right in with no problem, and it's possible they produced enough cars to homologate the higher HP motor.
Does anyone know which of the 2.0 motors was in the race car? Did they homologate one of the higher HP motors or was it the OEM 160 HP motor?

The SM are pretty darn tough. They don't break....usually.
In 2002, Kieberg & Courtney were in a SM that was burning a little oil. They kept thinking that the other guys were checking it. You can guess what happened.
I don't believe that any of them had problems @ the 25.

Rumoured to have an M-TEC (Mugen) crate engine, with red rocker cover, pumping out 235PS. I think this was published in Autocar Asean. For MME, engines are free as long as they are in the same family (K20).
Mugen carbon fibre airbox & racing muffler were very impressive. Engine mods were basically just balancing/blueprinting (Even the radiator hoses were stock!).
Instrumentation was a Mugen multifunction digital display (Kenwood LCD screen). Suspension was by Aragosta, brake pads were Project Mu.

I don't see how outlast could be a part of Chad's motto, although it should certainly be one of his aspirations.

In an endurance race, quick pit stops, good drivers and consistency is more important than outright power.
A good team should have a healthy budget to have enough spares to overcome any possible failure or problem.
Teamwork is so, so important.
But if some bozo slams into you, thats the end of the show.

The big **** eating grins of Honda Malaysia after that win were well deserved. Bet that article would go over well on a Porsche forum.

That is phenomenal. Honda needs this for its current image. Good to see them laying the smack down in such a severe fashion. Not and S2k, not and NSX, but a freakin' Civic 4-door!!!
Sick.

There's a new story at http://asia.vtec.net - Anatomy of a Race Civic. Find out what's going on under the hood!
