Default pistons with offset pins - advantages?

How much advantage is there to offset pins? I've heard the regular forged pistons sound like "a diesel". How bad is it really? Will people think my car is broken? And how much does the offsetting affect the durability of the piston/cylinder?

I'm comparing 9.0:1 CP with 8.5:1 Wiseco. I'd rather have the higher cr, but the shelf Wisecos have offset pins... And I don't want to mill my head...

forged pistons are a little loud at startup but onece they heat up there fine dont even hear them, cp are verry good and actually quiet, offsetting the pin you will need a longer ro to bring the piston back to where its supposed to be the advantage to offset pins it to getting a longer stroke.

Isn't stroke dictated by crank throw?

You can change your Rod/Stroke ratio by off-setting the pins.

Wow. I never thought of that, but it makes perfect sense. But seriously how much can you gain? Looking at the stock pistons, the offset is berely perceptible just eyeballing them. We're talking about like a half a millimeter added to the rod it looks like. How much can you actually change the r/s ratio that way?

Well, offsetting the wrist pin will not gain power in its own.

The only real advantage in going w/ an offset pin is the fact that it will increase the r/s ratio and decrease piston speeds. This, in turn, will allow you to rev the motor high more safely. But keep in mind you will have to use a different length rod.
