Default causes of low oil pressure?

welp, once my car is warm, i have next to no oil pressure at idle.
at WOT, i'm hitting about 4 bars... under 60 psi. it should be more than that.

As a result, i'm not switching lobes, as the pressure switch isn't seeing what it needs.

pan = moroso
pickup = moroso
windage tray = stock gsr
oil pump = stock gsr

any ideas?

too wide clearances on your bearings.

i have abotu 6.5 qts in the pan.
the gauge is a top of the line greddy warning meter.

more over, even if the gauge was wrong- why am i still not getting enough pressure to switch lobes? the reasoning is fouled.

next.

OIl pressure is determined by bearing clearance.

At what clearance does the pressure start to drop? How loose?

pissedoffsol,

What are your clearances @ right now?

damned if i know... jeff at IB built the block, which was frist built for some dude in cali on here, who i then bought the block from. tracing it back is going to be near impossible.

i'm at the point where

A- **** oil pressure. ahve fun with it till it blows up.
B- part it out
C- spend all more kinds of money on this damn car

and i just don't know what to do anymore with it.

One of the big reasons that people are reporting (in searches) is having the teflon tape clogging one of the fittings on the orifices

where your gauge is hooked up to.
I would just go get a $10 mech. oil pressure gauge at the parts store to have a 2nd opinion on the pressure.
check vtec oil pressure on the port by the sol. it should be 50 psi+

oil sump too close the bottom of the oil pan. thus not picking up enough oil.

i would check that.

if your hittin those psi numbers, and your have been driving on it for a while, it would be safe to say your bearings are toast, and your cams might be wearing into the head causing scarring, same goes wtih the pistons and cylinder walls.

dont ask how i know

What oil filter are you running. Reason why I ask is I have seen oil pressure differences of 10-15psi from a FRAM/ whatever autozone replacement filter they have from an OEM honda filter. Those Honda fitlers are so tiny and skinny for a reason.

its a mroso pick up and pan. i would think they would make it fir right, no? or at least have other people here have problems with them....

the car hasn't seen more than 10 miles tops... its has never fully run correctly.

filter is mobil 1.

think theres a big difference cuz i have my guage off my GEM sandwhich adapter?

mobil 1 10-30, after this rebuild, im gonna stick to the thicker stuff, 0-40 or 15-50, somethign like that, the high heat of the turbo system makes the oil like water

last thing u wanna hear, but pull the bitch apart while ur ahead so u can diagnose the prob man, trust me, u will regret it if u dont

I say get a new oil pump and see what happens. That looks like the cheapest thing to do. Dont think your oil weight, filter, or gauge is the problem. You must be getting a CEL because the vtec oil psi switch is not seeing the psi it needs?
