lets talk about sea foam it works? to clean you motor??
Don't you flush your motor out or something with this stuff....It gets rid of carbon deposits in your motor, i think....anybody use this stuff b4. I know for sure it's not to clean your engine bay...I read about it somewhere b4 but forget...
i heard it does work gets rid of the carbon deposit makes it run smoother. idle smoother. i dunno if this is true but i also heard that the exhaust gasses that coem out can harm the o2 sensor. not sure wut effect it does to the cat i dunno if you do it might as well take out the cat and the o2 sensor and then run it just to be same. but i aslo heard it does something to the valve seals but then im not sure if thats true it could all just be rumors.
Do a search, it has been discussed before. I've used it... good stuff. I did my homework before using it and couldn't find a single negative comment from anyone who had actually used it...

sea foam can be used as a crankcase cleaner or as a fuel system cleaner. gets rid varnish/water/gum build up as well as carbon build up. Can also be used as a fuel stabilizer. I always put @ a cup into my oil 20 miles before an oil change and run it through the gas once every couple months to break down some of the carbon build up on my valves from my short drives to work each day. works great. I recomend it for anyone who's just done an engine swap. generally the engine has sat for a while and the fuel rail/injectors are pretty gumed up. Gas has so many aditives/oxidizers now that it only has a shelf life for @ 2 weeks and that's on your good BP/Amco gas. the now try to get 75% gas out of a barrel of crude oil the used to only get 45% so that's bad for us, we get a lesser grade fuel and they get more money. So if you have a show car or drag car that has anychance of sitting with the same fuel for more than 2 weeks. stabilize that gas as soon as you get it from the pump.
I have always thought my ZC was a bit on the sluggish side and idled a bit rough. Then my NOX came in high with my emissions test which can mean carbon buildup. I was about to replace the O2 sensor and check the plugs, but saw the can of Sea Foam I had bought months ago and thought, what the hell, let's give it a try. Per the instructions, I very slowly poured 1/3 cup through the brake booster vacuum line with the engine running. Then I turned off the engine and let it sit for 5 minutes. Then I started it up and ran it at about 4-5K RPMs while plumes of smoke came out the back. After the smoke subsided, I took it for a little spin.
I'll be damned. The stuff worked. The idle smoothed out and it revs much easier. Butt dyno feels a definite improvement. It is way zippier than it was. It may just be a placebo effect, but it sure feels much better!
Add my endorsement to the pile.

I just seafoamed the engine in my beater yesterday. Poured 1/3 in the brake booster, 1/3 in the crankcase and 1/3 in the gas tank (full tank of gas). The engine had 134k miles so I gave it a shot. I guess it idles a little smoother, but that's about it. My valvetrain was gummed up a little bit and it didn't look like the seafoam did anything to get rid of it, but who cares? It costs like $4.50, so it's no big deal.
We use something like this where I work at the dealership and we recommend it every 15k miles...
We use the BG44 stuff but the GM top engine cleaner works well too!
Basicly what it does is disolve the stuff (Olafin, sp?) that the carbon sticks too and lets the carbon buildup get burnt through the exhaust...
It smokes for a little bit but when its done, you should feel an improvement if its a higher mileage engine.
I used to work @ a honda dealership and one time a CRV came in and would run rough and stall out. The tech did a "induction de-carb service" and it ran fine afterwards...
But if you have alot of buildup,it can only do so much...

I have used it in my old car which was a turbo B13 SE-R didnt harm anything and also an older Toyota pickup and it helped it out a little. Its awsome when you live in a neighborhood and you dump this stuff in your engine and it smokes the whole place up!! Its cool

Yea someone did a write up and said they used it on their turbo and worked good, I guess at first they were scared it was going to **** up someting.

hey . guys i just found this thread about sea foam, but i bought it a week ago, used it on gas tank and when i did my oil change, castro syn tech ! and my b16a is running fine. the amazing thing is my engine is finally getting good *** gas milage, ef 90 civic si gas tank, about 300 miles plus with 9-10 gallon.. that's about
30MPG, 1st time ever.... and i pass emission fine !!

i think i'm gonna try this in the VW before i change the oil friday, the 1.8Ts create some serious blowby and the valve train looks a little grungy at 53K, meh we'll see how well it works

The whitish stuff/chunks in the drain pan all came out of the crank case when I changed my oil after seafoaming and driving maybe 10 miles "spiritedly".
This is what was left over in the oil pan after I seafoamed my 98 EX today. With ONLY 55k on the engine, all original miles. I can only imagine the crap that got dumped out of the oil pan when I drained it into the waste oil bucket!

I used it in my beater civic with 160k on it. Poured it slowly in the brake booster hose then submersed the hose in the seafoam and had it stall. waited about 10 min . started it up (was rather difficult to start) and spiritedly drove around fumigating for bugs.

That's from pouring it in the crankcase and not from fogging it, right?

I used it yesterday before 134000 km oil change. I put in 1/2 of it in crankcase and the other half in a nearly empty gas tank.
I didn't unplug the brake booster vacuum line case it was too damn tight. I was lazy.
I let sit for 10 minutes, then started the car. the car had a weird ideling for less than 10 seconds, then it went back to normal. Only very, very little white smoke came out. The amount of white smoke looks like the effect when you start up a car in winter initially. Like steam. And it wasn't that much.
Drove the car to get gas then change the oil immediately. I couldn't feel anything special, well maybe a little. But it could be all my imagination.
Next time, I will use the vacuum line. Maybe I maintain my car too well that it runs smooth all the time.
