Default 94 accord (just got back from the track...click to see my time)

Alright guys, my last post was about how can i get the extra point something second lowered. So i decided to clear the trunk. Took out my system, spare tire, jack and the little other things. So me and some friends decided to go to the track. The only friend that brought his car was an 95 teg LS. Some how I took him both times we raced. The only thing i don't understand is, am I supposed to be taking him or is it the other way around. All aside I am very happy with my time. So here it is, my car is a 94 honda accord Lx 5sp 2door, the only mod (HP wise) is an AEM CAI.

Reaction time......................= .568
60 foot...............................= 2.464
1/4 time.............................= 16.532 at 81.076 MPH

This race times that i posted up was against an 99/00 SI that hit 16.3xx.

iight YO! here are my numbers. So you tell me what should be my next mod. I got about $2000 to spend.

If you got your times for an accord, please post them up with the MODS you have so i can know what to do next, thanks.

$2000 could easily build a nice turbo kit...that should definitely get you in the mid 14's...

Supra... if you have not seen "The Fast and the Furious" go watch it and you'll see a supra

Toyota discontinued the sport car line of supras in 1998. You can do some modest modifications to the engine/turbo and make 600+ STREETABLE hp depending on your setup. There are some 800-1000hp monster supras out there as well.

A stock supra turbo will get 320hp or so and run very respectable numbers at the drag strip.

If you wanted to drag race you should have bought something other than an accord. Accord = nice ride, great fuel economy, decent looking car

I'm pretty sick of hearing people say, "take that $2000 dollars and buy a supra/mustang/wrx/enzo" this is an accord forum! we all have accords, we're not changing dammit!!! you can't buy a damn supra with $2000 dollars anyways!!!
so anyways, my advice to you would get some nitrous in there, that would really cut down time on your 1/4. Also, you could do some work on your cylinder heads. But first things first, get the basics in there; headers, and cat-back exhaust.

ok what do YOU WANT out of your money

you just want fast ET Times?

or you want something with more power/hp??

what you trying to get out of your accord..

you want fast and cheap, Nitrious

you want power and Hp numbers: Turbo

You want something quick but relieable H22 swap

its up to you, if your a dragster.. you got different choices

you want to stay all motor and go for fast all motor car.. or you want to go and see how low you can go , then go boost~

turb

That is a bit cheap, even for those cars. If you did find a turbo version for under 2k I would bet it would be in pretty shitty shape.

If you are going NA (naturally Aspirated) headers and a good cat back exhaust for sure. If you want top end pull go with a 4-1 (4 pipes into 1) for the header, if you want more bottom end, go 4-2-1. Don't go to big on the exhaust or you'll lose power.
That'll likely only cost you i'm assuming in U.S. about $700 depending of course on which companies you go with.
You may also want to look at a larger throttle body, pulleys, cams, fuel pressure regulator and some head work as mentioned before (Port and polish with a three angle valve job). If you plan on racing at the track, do yourself a favour and get a clutch that will handle all the abuse.
My $0.02

To reduce weight, take out your seats too. Doesn't take long. I use to remove all of them but my own. Of course that meant the girlfriend had to be strapped to the roof

Didn't the girlfriend on the roof create more drag? I think I would put mine in the trunk instead.

I think a cold air intake, exhaust, headers, and maybe some suspension work would be a good start.

Unless of course she was a big girl...with copius amounts of cottage cheese on the legs. It would act like the dimples on a golfball
If I stuck her in the trunk, my front tires might lift off the ground and then where would I be? Up **** creek without a paddle my man. Luckily, that wasn't the case.

He could also remove A/C and power steering to help free up a bit of lost power, and ensure he go to the track with about an 1/8th of a tank of gas (Keep some extra in a jerry-can for the drive home).

He could sell the accord, and take that money + his 2k and put a down payment on a supra

But as far as getting the basics (header, catback) I would hold off because if he decides to go turbo he would only waste money and end up replacing them in the first place. Granted he could sell it to recover some of his losses, he would still end up losing money.

Until you decide what you want to do you need to look at your options carefully and research. Asking for opinions without stating your goal will only get you alot of random crap that we feel like throwing at you. Do your homework, read up, and then act.

If you want turbo it will cost more than 2k for sure, unless you do a junk yard turbo setup. If you want all motor that 2k will get some nice results with a bigger bore, higher compression pistons, sleeves, rods, and head work. Up to you really... lots of possibilities, and yes selling the accord and buying a supra is a possibility Go drive one and decide for yourself.

thanks for all the feedback. I read all the things you guys stated about turbo or NA, and someone stated go do your homework then ask questions about what you want to do. That's what i'll be doing.

How much would a supra cost...$1500...am i correct

hey man whats up.......I gotta 96 accord lx 2dr. ...stock motor....
16.38......1/4 mile time
yea no ****!
Im the original owner for starters.....J-spec freak ofcourse
All oil changes like @ 2K Miles since I bought it in 96....all genuine honda parts replaced if they broke....like radiator...battery and stuff like that....all honda fluids...radiator...honda oil(mobil 1)...honda ATF fluid replaced every six months....honda brake fluid....and I think you get the picture...
Anyway mods are fully gutted (all metal from driver's seat back ...no pasenger seat) ....suspension includes KYB AGX struts (8-way adj.) ...skunk2 coils....full poly bushings....nuespeed front rear, and rear lower sways
engine mods....man I really aint got **** on that to tell you the truth.....but here it is....AEM CAI....MSD 6AL, Blaster2 coil.....crank and acc. pulleys....dc 4-2-1 header....straight pipe to skunk2 exhaust....FPR....Chipped ECU
Thats about it man......
I think the thing is a damn near flawless motor.....when you at the track set the front tires @20psi....and the rear @40psi.....struts are at full strength front and rear for the hole shot, no wheel hop and stiff rear end for good launch.....coils all the way down front and rear......1/4 tank of gas
but thats about it man....I hang with SI's and beat some LS's.....not GSR's though
this motor is definately comin out by December though.....the H22 is goin in.
Im rebuilding it from the bottom up ....probably all type-s stock internals....full race port/polish...some head milling and honing.....bored .25 over....we'll see....
But definately get a 22 in your accord though......you cant do **** with non V-tech SOHC.....you get walked on all day!
holla back at me....

i don't exactly see why he would have to sell his headers or cat-back exhaust after he got a turbo? those are essential for a turbo set-up.
oh, and if you guys can point me in the direction of an accord turbo setup for $2000 dollars, please show me. THe onlly decent ones i've seen are $3000 to $4000.

wish i lived in japan please do not try to help out unless you have some idea what you are talking about. you can not use headers with a turbo and we are not talking about a bolt up kit but a junk yard one. as for your track time and money if you want some serious power save a bit more so you have some money for tuning and go turbo otherwise get headers and exhaust. posted from my smart phone

Dude, headers would be replaced with a turbo manifold and the exhaust would be enlarged. In regards to turbo and exhaust, a bigger exhaust is better.
Guys don't flame him too hard, he's obviously new to cars.
"I wish I lived in Japan"...one word so you don't get to flamed....research.

I bought all my junkyard turbo parts including safc for 600 bucks.

dsm manifold- 60
450cc injectors- 50
t25 turbo- 150
safc- 160
SMIC-30
IC piping 200
BOV- 40
oil lines- 70
-------------
600 bucks .

Also I figure to spend 200-300 to tune it bringing my "kit" under 1K . Guess what, you still have another grand to go for your "budget" .

but mine is for f22a
