Default ctr pistons in my gsr HELP!!! Burnt 2 pistons in 56 miles

ok i have std size ctr's in my gsr within 56 miles untuned i burnt 2 pistons.. what i need to know is why and is it worth getting the same pistons put back in. if this happens i will not drive it till tuned. i just need a new plan, i want the high cr, also could this have been caused by the assembly??? i really need to know to see if there is any action i can take against the shop that put it together! thanks for the replies all feedback is appreciated. ALSO is there any good places in washington state that can tune my car once together? Seattle area!

Why would you want to take action against the shop that built it? You were the one foolish enough to drive it untuned. You can't just put 2 new pistons in without checking the cylinders with a dial bore guage to make sure you have not warped them also.

did you get too excited for the new rebuild rev the engine on the way home...? i hope not...if you did,,,prolly because of improper abuse on piston and its cyclinder wall...

im sure they need to be broken in properly with low rpm rev, oil checks, blah blah blah...im sure you can bring it back to the store man..they rebuild and the engine got smoke...hmmmm i dont see why you can't talk to them unless you really abused your engine on the way home...but if you did...dotn tell them....lol...

if you decide to talk to them you better talk to them as early as you can....you know how we "human being" alway not taken responsibility and ****?

what i want to know is did the shop test drive the car, check everything before you drove it. sounds to me like that didn't assemble the engine right

your compression is probably 2.5-3 points higher than stock with those pistons. You were probably running really lean. What is your fuel setup? Please dont say stock.

What I was thinking. Stock fuel system and map was for 10.4:1 You droped in some CTR piston which bimped the compression up to around 12.5-13.0:1 If you did not get it tuned, which you say you did not, your going to run lean causing some high cylinder temps........... out of round cylinder and toasty piston.

If your going to bump compression, start the car on a dyno or at least with a wideband O2 so you can immediately get the A/F right. Then go from there.

drivin around on a stock map shouldnt hurt a motor. u can run all day on a stock map even with high compression. as long as u dont get ur foot into it, which im 99.9% sure u did. u got excited put ur foot into it without a proper ECU and then caused the pistons to fry. im definitely saying its ur fault. i dont know what shop and i dont care.
ive only built 2 motors myself and have had no problems. i dont break in my motors i go straight to the road and rod the **** out of them and i have had no ill effects. but i have had a proper ECU to give the correct or close to the correct amount of fuel.
