power steering in rex?
I believe the Civic Sedan (Ex, and Lx) did have power steering, I think I also heard that some auto crxs came with power steering too.

also what ive heard
also what ive heard
Slight thread jack here, but has anyone ever heard of anyone converting a b-series crx to power steering? I'm highly considering it, but I'm not much of a trailblazer... seems simple enough with a b-series pump and bracket and an ED sedan rack.
I could use a answer to that as well. I'd hate to have to parallel park here in New York without it. My CRX isn't here yet so there is still time to add power steering before I drive it here to join my other car.
I have converted to Power Steering in both my 89 CRX W/ZC and my 88 HB W/ZC. It is an easy install. Just find a donor car 88-91 w/pwr steering and take all the plumbing, the rack and the rear engine Xmember. Use the power steering pump that comes with the engine swap (be sure to ask for it as it will be stripped to reduce shipping weight if you do not request it be sent with the engine).
What a difference at low spped/parking. I cannot tell any difference at speed. Best mod for city driving i ever made.

bah, i was expecting all sorts of girly-man comments... 90% of my driving is under 25 miles/hr, and my crx is heavy (Si, b16, full interior + audio stuff, etc.) the lack of PS makes the car less fun that my 96 civic w/ half the horsepower.
If I was still in St. Louis I wouldn't care. But All the parking here in New York is parallel parking. I don't want to park everyday. on a hill, in a spot a hair too small, with a stick without power steering. I grew up without power steering. I also grew up without cable, I think I'd like to keep the luxury.
A crx is so light. I dont see much a need for Power Steering in a CRX.
But if you want it. Just do as TPR says.

Saying the CRX is too light for power steering is an opinion. In my opinion the car is not adversely affected (10 exta pounds) and the city driveability is greatly enhanced. Bottom line is if you want it you can have it. If not, don't condem someone who does, for whatever reason. A closed mind will always limit you in life. Open up to other view points and you may actually learn something new. If not you are condemmed to be a neanderthal till you die!!
The power steering rack is bigger in diameter so yes you will need to change the rear crossmember. Keeping the rack and all its plumbing together while removig and reinstalling keeps all the parts (hoses) sealed. THis is the best way to change the rack anyway. 88-91 Civic (all) will fit (LX DX Etc). The frame attachment points are the same.
Do you have any pictures of the install. I am curious as to where you have placed everything like the resevoir to see if there is room for everything that I need installed in the engine bay including my AC and VSC. Thanks.

LOL!!

Just go to the junk yard and look how it is installed. It is the same for all 88-91 Civics w/powersteering. To all who are so vocal about power steering for whips. I say the fart can on the back of your car alone does not make horsepower just NOISE. Save the NOISE for the track where it belongs.
