my driverside door makes a annoying click noise when it gets half way open. its annoying! passengerside doesnt do this. i've changed the door and the hinge (a couple times) with different ones and its still does it. anyone fix this?
it's prolly not the hinge, but the damper. that flat metal thing with a vein in it that goes in and out of the door when you open and close it. it's what keeps the door open when you let go of it. It;s common for that to fail. there's no way to fix it except with maybe an arcwelder.

no accidents. and that part on the chasis that the hinge attachs to looks fine. the click seems to be coming from the hinge (when it moves in and out). but i've tried 4 different ones.
It's sounds like that stupid metal rod that goes from the door to chassis.
It's not the hinge.
It the part that keeps the door from opening too far.
It also locks the door open when you open it to get out.
Where the bar attaches to the chassis VERY COMMONLY breaks free from the door jam.
It's not a replacable part.
People have tried to fix it by wleding the crack and it just breaks again.
Mines broke.
It freaking sucks sweaty dog nuts.

mine clicks too...i narrowed it down to being the little (5mm?) pin that connects the damper arm to the chassis. It's worn and has some play i can see it when i open/close the door.
Someone should try getting one from honda and see if it fixes it...next order i put out will have one!

4drEF,
its not that part. that part of my car looks fine.
AgentJam,
thats a good idea. i never thought of it being the pin. i'll swap the pins from side to side, to see if thats it. its the only thing i havent replaced.

You can't see it, but it is... you're just too scared to admit it!
Maybe use a length of tubing and open and close the door and listen for the click through the tube. That should help pin-point the area.

i swapped the pins from side to side today. the click still comes from the driver side. damn. i can feel the hinge thing in the door move a bit when it clicks. maybe i'll flip it upsidedown and run it like the right side one.

i absolutely hate it. i'm the kinda guy that took 3 hours to realign both doors so the gap around the doors are perfect and the doors close completely without effort like when it was new.

UPDATE:
I ended up trying a brand new door checker and it worked! I guess those three other used ones, that i tried, 'clicked' too.
$40 for the new checker. dont use a used one! get a new one. and they different depending on year (seat belt on doors or on b-pillars) and different for sedans.
#11 in the pic.

Mine doesn't go click. It goes "CLACK CLACK" really loud TWO times when opening the door fully, and one CLACK when closing.
I hope it's the #11 in the pic.. im gonna fix that ****.

What happens when you remove the damper? Does the door just open all the way and F the fender? Or does it just not have the spring feel? Did it stop the click? **** THE CLIK!

Mine's really damn loud...that part is cracked all to hell. Since it's basically a race car it doesn't bother me, but it seems most with the seatbelts in the door have that problem eventually. Guess I swapped to '88 doors too late.
