What to do for lapbelt mounting in CRX, belts too long!
I have an 88CRX and I am installing a 5 point harness. Shoulder belts will wrap around rollbar. If I mount the lapbelts to the existing seatbelt anchours the belts are too far behind my seat and do not align with the passthru's in my seat, plus it is not safe because the belt rides too high on my waste.
If I use bolt thru eye-bolts in the proper location then my belts are too long. My butt sits about 4 inches off the floor so the belts can only be about 10 - 12 inches in length. Can I eliminate the adjuster and just use the belt coming off the camlock to the proper clip on attachment for the eye-bolt?

im not quite understanding the problem. i dont know what you mean by seat belts being too long. they should be adjustable. for a crx, you just drill a hole on the floor on the outboard side of the seat and in the exhaust/shifter tunnel on the inboard side. with the 88's the stock anchor might already be in that position, but from what you said it might be too far back. so just make a new hole and back it properly.

And burn the ends.

I'm using the factory lap belt locations in my '88 CRX and the arrangement is perfect. Could you maybe post a picture or describe a little more about what's not working correctly? I'm also not understanding how the belt is riding too high up your waist. Aren't the seat holes and the sub-belt keeping the belt low?

Travis,
It seems like with the belts in the stock location that it would not be an ideal situation for my seat. The belts are about 9 inches back from were they should be in the above picture. The belts come forward, then thru the holes in the seats and then they come thru at a 90 degree angle over my lap. It seems like in a crash, if the seat is not strong in the location around the holes it would fail and then the belts would be loose.
I will try to get a pic and post.

O.k. if I can cut the webbing then it might work. All the metal hardware will be right up against each other. Imagine a belt from camlock to eye-bolt 9 inches long. It will be a real bitch to get all those fasteners stacked up between the seat and tunnel.
Thanks everyone.
Thanks everyone.
im still not understanding.
from the camlock to the inboard anchor. theres the clip that goes into the camlock, the belt goes thru the hole in the seat, then the adjustment bracket, then the snapclip and eye bolt and the belt comes back to the adjustment bracket. im not really seeing how there is a problem of space.
