Tach Showing False RPM's
OK, i have two friends who have done B series swaps in their EG's. Now that they did their swaps. They are both having this same problem.
They both would switch gears at about 8,000 rpm's which for some reason was feeling like it was taking really long to get to 8,000. So we hooked up a VAFC, and we noticed that they are really reving to about 9,200 rpms. BUt that tach is far behind that.
Tach is showing about 8,000rpms, but they are really at around 9,200 rpms. Not sure if it started happening with them after the swap or not, because the single cam didnt rev that high to of ever noticed.
Has anyone ever had this problem?

OEM tachs are notorious for being off, but I don't think that either of your friends were revving to 9200 honestly. I don't know where the fuel cut for a B16 is, but I'd bet that its long before 9200.
Try hooking up say an autometer tach right to the engine itself i forget where exactly but that will give you your most acurate readings. B4 i swaped out my dash pod my tach was off by as much as 700 depending on the rpm at the time.
