Default Is ester oil compatible on my 96 civic ex?

I went to the parts store yesterday and bought a new dryer for my 96 civic ex and i asked them which oil I needed. They suggested Ester oil, so, I bought a little container. Well, I finally got around to finding my shop manuals and it says to use PAG (SP-10) refrigerant oil. "Intermixing the recommended (PAG) refrigerant oil with any other refrigerant oil will result in compressor failure."

This was an AC shop I went to yesterday, so I'd like to think they know what they're talking about... the container says its safe for all R12 and R134 systems...

any input?

I don't see why it wouldnt, but find another A/C place and see what they think. Ask around or do a search on yahoo or something also.
