Default teg tps, replaceable or no

my buddy has a 98 ls and his tps is bad. i called honda as well as other parts stores and they all say like 700plus for a new one because its a part of the tb. i saw on hi rev tuners that you can use a sharp chissel and turn those bolts off that hold it on. will it work on this one. and will the one from a 94 civic work as a replacement? anyone know?

I heard once the TPS goes bad, you need a whole new throttle body.

Also heard that once you remove the TPS, it will need to be recalibrated, otherwise it won't work correctly, and only the dealer can do that.

I'd say why bother just get a new throttle body.

BTW.... hehe... let me know if you need a GSR throttle body, I got one for sale, you might want to check though if it will fit an LS.

Yes you can replace the tps its been done. use a dremel tool to put slots in the rivets that hold the tps to the TB after you do that you can use a flathead driver and remove it. then install the new one

yeah you can do that.. but about recalibrating i have no idea how to do that.. and i believe you are suppose to recalibrate it. either ways.. say if you don't the tps should work... it just probably wont last too long. the reason i'm saying that is because my buddy had this problem and replaced his tps like 3 times now lol (all used and free from a junkyard though )

so what you can do is either go to a junkyard and get a whole tb or just the sensor.

if you decide to get a new tps then just make sure when you go to put it back on.. use screws instead of the rivets.

if anyone knows how to recalibrate tps's let me know.. this is something i've always wanted to know how to do and what the whole deal is with it
