whats the fastest street prelude???
From my limited knowledge...
11.7 with boost (someone on HT, dont remember his name)
12.77 all motor (local guy who used to run at carlsbad all the time)
Both are 5th gens...
I only talked to the all motor guy for about 5 minutes... His set up is a 2.4 w/ ITB's and rumured to be putting down around 251 WHP on 100 octane... It was built by Jay Hornacek who is one of the big time SD engine builders...
If all goes as planned I plan on going quicker than both of them... 1st, all motor... Then, the next build will be for boost

Yeah, what does "street" mean? That a full race, tube-frame, gutted interior, carbon shell, racing gas monster *can* drive on the street, or one that's insured (and they know what you have), registered, and can pass a real smog test? Big difference.
Mine!
It runs 1 min 10 sec at beaver run
1/4 mile time = hell if I know, and hell if I care
It's still streat legel... well it has an inspection sticker.

Steve Oaks has the fastest prelude in the country per nhra standings for pro street (i think thats the class).
mind you he ran that 11.4 a mile above sea level....lol and from what ive gathered he also is putting down more power now then at the time of his 11.4 run.

Blah... You need to come to cali and check out how we roll out here...
Cut or FG doors, 1 pc front ends, completely gutted, cut up inner 1/4 pannels, FG hatch or trunk lid, roll cage, Lexan everything (except the windshield)...
Oh yeah... And in 99.9% of the time... still registered and insured

Uh-huh...and I'm sure if they were to get inspected tomorrow all would pass, right?
IMHO just because you _can_ drive it on the street doesn't make it a street car...hell I'm sure I could throw a dealer plate on a pro-mod and make a couple passes up and down my road but that don't mean it's a street car. I've got a hell of alot more respect for someone that kept everything and is still fast then for someone driving a tin can that they managed to keep "legal" by some means.

California huh? Then you have only CARB-approved parts on the engine, guaranteeing your car is not that fast.

Most people out here keep a list of smog hook ups... The phrase "CARB legal" doesnt mean much anymore... You get popped, you swap all the stock stuff in (motor included), get it inspected by a CA smog ref and the CA highway patrol... Once youve passed with flying colors you get that **** back in the garage put all the hardcore stuff back on/in the car and your right back on the road...
Dont get me wrong... My prelude is all stock everything... But thats not to say I didnt own a couple civics and CRX's in my day

That's not a street car. Check NHRA import rulings if you would like a deffinition.

"Street class" car is covered under the NHRA rules and guidelines...
If were talking NHRA then thats a whole other issue...

He ran an 11.2 in Vegas and is probably in the high 10's by now
btw, I believe it's licenced and street legal
