SCAMMED BY KG CM2!!!
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=947096
KG CM2 Scammed me. I paid $105 for a brand new AEM cold air intake for 96-00 civic. He sent me one for a LX/CX/DX, I drive an EX!!!. And on top of that he sent me a SHORT RAM INTAKE!!!! He then has the nerve to tell me he has been a great seller to me and worked real hard to make this transaction work, and I paid for what I asked for. I paid for a COLD AIR INTAKE FOR A CIVIC, he sends me a SHORT RAM INTAKE! On top of that when I receive the item, The manual is gone and the label on the side is pretty much ripped off except for this little bit left that gave the model number and what car it was for. This dude started a car shop and yet can't tell the difference between a cold air intake and a short ram intake! Even in his for sale it stated COLD INTAKE FOR 96-00 CIVIC!
I asked him for a refund because I paid for a COLD AIR INTAKE and he sent me a SHORT RAM INTAKE. What pisses me off the most is he was such a nice guy in the beginning and now he has turned sour. I'll leave an excerpt of the last 4 PM's between us, "Don't mind my english i was extremely pissed at the moment"
(8:26 PM 8/30/2004) bigdoggie: Ok dude, I just found the model number on this intake and it isn't even a COLD AIR!! Its a AEM Short RAM intake and you totally ripped me off man. We better reach a good resolution for this. Cause right now I am extremely Peeved.
(8:30 PM 8/30/2004) bigdoggie: I can get an SRI from ebay for $70 shipped. and I paid $105 for a supposed cold air intake. How did u used to run a custom shop and not know the parts you are selling. Did you purposely attempt to remove the label to dupe me? because I found this little *** sticker on the bottom right and it stated. S.R.S 96-00 civic DX/LX/CX.
(2:44 AM 8/31/2004) bigdoggie: I just watn my money bakc and I will ship you the SHORT RAM! Either send me a Money ORder for $105 or paypal me $105 +3%. And I will ship the short ram back to you.
(8:09 AM 8/31/2004) Kg cm2: I really do not think that it is fair for you to ask me for the money back. I am selling all of this stuff to get RID of it, not to send it out so people can try it out, then take it back. I sent you what you asked for, and I've even tried to give you help since. I've done more for you than other sellers would, but now I'm done. I am not going to take it back. YOu were sent what you asked for when you contacted me. If you don't want it, sell it to another board member.
(8:39 AM 8/31/2004) bigdoggie: Dude, this is not a COLD AIR INTAKE. This is a SHORT RAM INTAKE. You did not send me what I had asked for. Even on your description you stated. COLD AIR INTAKE. this si a freaking SHORT RAM INTAKE. There is a huge difference. I did not try it out. IT did not work!!
If anyone feels that I am the one in error then please tell me and I will leave him alone. BUT I thoguht that If I pay for a CAI, I should get a CAI not a SHORT RAM.

Looking at the pics, I can tell right off top that isnt a CAi. My impression of a CAi is where the filter is next to the tire...would that be a correct statement. I see where the IAT sensor plugs in and from judging from the rest of the piping, the length does not coincide with a CAI, nor do I see a coupler and clamps or an extra set of piping. Maybe my definition of a CAi is different from everyone elses...
I'd be pissed. Short ram is not the same as cold air at all. And just cuz the seller is trying to get rid of everything doesn't mean he should be a complete dick to the person who bought it. Dude...you promised him a cold air intake from AEM...even the bend of the intake is wrong since its for the wrong car

8:42 AM 8/31/2004) bigdoggie: then imma post u up as a scammer see what other H-T members have to say about the situation. How coincidently, the manual was left out, the label on the side was ripped off, but at least ther ewas till a part # that I was able to search on.
(5:52 PM 8/31/2004) Kg cm2: Listen, the only thing I do feel you are valid in complaining about was the TYPO in the original thread. However, as a buyer, I feel you have the responsibility to double check on anything that is important to you before purchasing a product. As for the label and the lack of instructions, I can tell you with 100% honesty the reasoning for that. We removed ALL labels before placing them on our shelves because our suppliers name comes on the label, and we didn't want people going to them for the product. As far as the lack of instruction, we removed that so that we'd have more installation business. What we did is not unlike most other retail stores. I would have removed the part numbers from everywhere if I was trying to scam you, with I obviously was not. I have sold several parts on H-T without ever having a problem. I also had a store that I ran without ever receiving a complaint, so if you want to label me as a scammer, I think that is unfair AND rude.
(5:53 PM 8/31/2004) Kg cm2: However, if you feel I did scam you, please at least be courteous and give me the link to where you mention me on the scammers list so that I can defend myself, and then as you said, you'll be able to get other opinions on this matter.

There is the link. I will post ur response that is valid for you, but again, You stated it was a cold air itnake and you still sold me a Short ram intake.
(6:20 PM 8/31/2004) bigdoggie: And like I said if everyone feels that I am wrong in this matter, Then I will gladly retract everything I have said.
Here is his latest response. That is a huge focking typo. COLD AIR and SHORT RAM How many letters in there are the same??? hmmm...

Just pointing out the obvious:
Not only is it the wrong intake style (short ram vs. cold air), it is also the intake for the WRONG CAR. 96-00 cx/dx/lx has throttle body mounted vertically. 96-00 ex has throttle body mounted horizontally.

You know what, I didn't know that at first and he never told me. I was angry about that at first but then I realized you noe what, its my fault cause I screwed up and should have asked. But if this was the 96-00 CAI, i found some dude willing to trade his barely used EX one for my brand new one non-EX, which would have made me a happy camper... But since this dayam thing isn't even a CAI, no luck for me.
And Because he was such a reputable seller and was vouched by some pplz with a good number of posts. I figured he knows what a Cold air intake is and what a Short ram intake is. I mean when I asked him about the item, I stated AEM CAI AEM CAI, I never just called it an intake. If needed I can post up some more previous PMs between us, but I just posted up the more recent ones.

I'm sad to see this has all gotten so out of hand. Especially because you are all jumping to conclusions without knowing the other side. Although, that is very typical of this message board. So, here is the whole thing from my side:
1. There was a typo on the original thread. As we all know, this is not a cold air intake. It is, on fact, a short ram intake. However, the purpose of the picture is to show the product that is to be expected. So, I put a picture and said, "This is what you're buying." I did not realize it was a typo, to be honest, until bigdoggie rudely told me.
2. All of the PMs that were posted by bigdoggie were posted out of context, not showing my responses to all of his claims/comments. From the first time he let me know he wasn't happy, he was incredibly rude and very demanding. In the first PMs we ever exchanged (not shown here), he asked me many questions and I answered all of them honestly. If he had asked THEN about the short ram vs. cold air, then this whole mess would have been avoided.
3. This inventory does not belong to me, it belongs to the company that I was a part in. Therefore, the thing that is not being looked at here, and was also neglected to be posted by bigdoggie through the PMs that I sent him, is that it is not up to me to do a refund. It is 100% out of my hands. I stated in the original thread that this was a liquidation of excess inventory, not me selling my own personal parts.
4. In effort to remedy this situation, that I am admitedly partially responsible for, I offered him a significant discount on anything else he wanted that I had left. In fact, I offered him prices below the cost that the company purchased them for. It is also never mentioned that I sent him a free set of light bulbs with this intake just because I was trying to be nice.
5. As I explained to him through PMs, and of course he left this out too, the reasoning for the label being gone was because it was on our shelf, and we always removed the labels before they were displayed because the suppliers name and website was on it, and we didn't want customers knowing who we bought from. As for the instructions, they were also always removed before the sale so that we could offer our customers installation for their products. These practices are not unlke most other retailers.
Essentially, what happened here was a case of the buyer asking the wrong questions and the seller making an error. However, I specifically used pictures of the ACTUAL intake, so that any buyer would know what to expect. Only AFTER he received the product that was pictured did he start to act rude and demanding.
What you all are missing is that I am not an individual selling a product, I am a representative of a retail store that is no longer open and my job is to liquidate the inventory. That is it. I am not a person who buys and sells thing on message boards, I am in charge of getting rid of left overs for a corporation in the process of being dissolved. The desicion to make the refund was never up to me, and because he was not interested in looking at this fact, and instead just kept getting more and more disrespectful towards me.
As I see it, I did as much as I could to fix this problem. You can all be upset, or you can agree with me, but if you feel like I did something wrong, then just don't buy things from me. It's that simple. As I explained to him through PMs before, I have sold several things on this board with no problems AND we never had a problem when we were in business.
So, bigdoggie, please do not misrepresent what was said through PM by omitting my responses and/or choosing what you want to put, and please do not act so rude if you actually want something done to make you happy. I am willing to discuss this through PMs AGAIN if you can keep it nice. As I'm sure nobody would disagree, you don't get anything you want by acting like a jerk.

When given the oppurtunity to speak to me directly he was incredibly rude. I did take responsibility for the typo, and that didn't seem good enough for him. What I see in his post, and the fact that he has triple posted this on H-T within 3 hours, is that he has less interest in getting this fixed and more of an interest in prolonging all this negative stuff which I hate taking a part of.
I have sent him yet another PM giving him the oppurtunity to discuss this with me in a polite way, so now the ball is in his court. I think some of your opinions are valid, and the rest are reptitive, and I do not think they're fair considering what I've already tried to make this better. I think this is now getting to the point of beating a dead horse. If he wants to get back to me, he can. Sorry you all have had to take part in such a joke of a complaint.

2. Posts are Limited to normal quantity sales by members selling their parts. It should be people selling some used parts, something they bought and cant use.
4.Businesses or Members (selling New products that they purchased to sell) or websites etc. are Not allowed to post in this Forum. Retailers may only Advertise on the site in "Sponsors Marketplace" Forum but must also Sign up for advertising with Honda-Tech
in the original thread, the buyer asks a question stating "CAI" so the seller should have pointed out what he was selling was a not a CAI. just because he 'made a typo' doesn't excuse him from taking responsibility. the whole point of describing what you are selling is to inform the buyer what they are buying. the seller is scamming if he/she doesnt take care of the situation

nope you are 100% in the right IMO - seller made an honest mistake - but honestly should refund 100% of you money (shipping included) or ship you a CAI for your application - even if he does lose $10-20 on this - it was his mistake..I don't care if he is selling it for a shop or not - he made the mis-labled post here on honda-tech
offering discounts on further purchases is not a good way to solve the problem - unless the buyer chooses to do so on his own

nope you are 100% in the right IMO - seller made an honest mistake - but honestly should refund 100% of you money (shipping included) or ship you a CAI for your application - even if he does lose $10-20 on this - it was his mistake..I don't care if he is selling it for a shop or not - he made the mis-labled post here on honda-tech
offering discounts on further purchases is not a good way to solve the problem - unless the buyer chooses to do so on his own
All the fingers are pointing at the seller, so what are you going to do to make it right?
You were careless and now YOU must make it right, which would be to refund his money and take the intake back.
Scammers, careless sellers =

I hate people that don't even know what they are selling! Especially shops that don't know what the hell they are talking about. Give this dude his money back . Come on for god sake he has a ex and for all you know this could of been his first experience with buying a part online and you basically just ruined it for him and everyone else. I once had a Dx and when people used to tell me it was the same **** as an ex I would just laugh. But 105.00 is no laughing matter . MY OPINION IS REFUND!
