Default welds on a JDM 4-1 replica header, pics inside

This is the streetimport's jdm 4-1 knockoff, in stainless. The craftsmanship is questionable in my opinion. I'd like to get some other opinions and maybe compare with welds on an oem jdm 4-1. The collector is not pretty at all, i'll see if I can get better pics...

Comments welcome

Wow, that is terrible! I can't imagine putting my company's name on that or even be associated with selling something of that quality. It's scary that they can get away with that kind of business.

The stainless welds just look really bad. Is there a steel version? I assume the flat black one? the design itself looks fine.

Yeah Rene it sure is rough. I think I could weld better, and that's not saying much. My lincoln weldpak 155 could have done a better job, IMO.

Those 2 pics are of the bottom of the collector, near the mounts for the skidplate.

lmk if anyone needs better pics...

it is tig. the welder was set with way too much current and the guy burned the steel. I think that's horrible, and definitely sub-novice. Maybe those crazy koreans trained monkeys to weld, and that one was done by a monkey

Bob: Hey Joe!
Joe: Whats up Bob?
Bob: lets start a company and make parts for imports. $$$ yO!

The next morning Bob buys his first welder and starts making headers.

For $150 what do you expect?

If you really wanted to, you could order the header, grind out the welds and reweld it yourself.

Probably would be cheaper than a DC or OEM alternative.

Exactly my point. People seem to have a problem with paying for quality or R&D time these days.

OMG, that is the worst crap I've ever seen, you actually paid money for that. Ouch. How is it guys weld a couple of times then figure they can sell "JDM style" headers.

D.

WOw, im in awe, look at the last pic, the primaries arn't welded all the way around the flange, and just tacked on there. Looks like the flange would get ripped off if your exhaust system isn't flexible enough.
