greddy turbo kit safe for d16z6?
i have d16z6 in my hatch right now and it has 150k miles on it. its been previously owned by an old lady and i have put atleast 5k miles on it. i baby it and i dont drive the heck out of it like everyone else does. i was wondering if i bought a greddy turbo kit and the greddy intercooler, is it safe for the motor? if so, how about in the long run? what problems could i run into?
If properly cared for and maintained the motor should be in good shape. IMO adding a turbo to this motor with the given milage is potentially dangerous. Turbo's increase wear and tear by tenfold, especially to a motor that was intended to be N/A. Unless you have an additional car for transportation I would suggest a rebuild to be able to achieve the power and reliability you are seeking. These motors are a great foundation for potential power if they are set up correctly; however, if this is your only mode of transportation I would not proceed. Take some time, learn all you can about Honda motors and turbo's and build yourself(or have built) a decent reliable motor that you wouldn't have to second guess. Just my .02
just goto a some auto shop and do all the test on your motor. compression, check for leaks. stuff like that then and if everything check then im sure ur good to boost. along the rode you could do things thatll protect your motor. first thing i would do is re-sleeve your block
if you do it right it will be fine...... jus tmake sure to have it tuned and stash money for tunning as well

Also "IF" you were to have problems, The d16z6 can be found very easily at
a reasonable price....I purchased a complete d16z6 (45k mi.) minus the tranny for $400 at a local junkyard

and yes a custom put together t25 turbo kit will do just fine as long as you do it the right way, without cutting corners.... and just again take it somehwere to get it professionally tuned....
detonation = really bad, and i have seen plenty of people around here just slap the turbo on without the right stuff and it blows within 2 days.....
but yes on turbod16.com you will find plenty of information about this..
