just got my 95 prelude si
So i got this 95 prelude si and its a h23a which i am semi dissapointed about but i got a good deal on it so i would just like to know whats the difference between the SI's and the normal preludes and the vtecs, because ive read some places that the SI's are vtecs but im fairly sure they arent, and if they arent do you think that it would eventually be worth it to drop a vtec h22 in there???? and one more question, what do you think would be the best first mod (1k limit) im thinking rims and tires (care is stock 87k mi) or catback system and maybe intake. Any advice is appreciated.
Thx Guys

in 92-93 the prelude were Si Vtec. then in 94 on they be came Si H23a and the Vtec was a different model. honda basically just added a new trim level to preludes.
for 1K limit. i would get performace. i/h/e. if your wanting to swap, i wouldnt waste my money on those parts. for 1K you can get a decent H22a1 and tranny.

You are disappointed in the H23 motor?? Why??? Because it isn't VTEC??
The H23 motor is a GREAT motor. Maybe you were just expecting too much out of it.
Oh well. Good luck with the car.

bullshit, VTEC wasnt available in the US models until 93.
S - F22 (slow)
Si - h32 non vtec motor - 160 hp
Vtec - H22a a1 - 200 hp
then you get into 5th gens which rule all

wtf
in 92 there was no vtec offered in the us
he has a 95 so that's irrelevant anyway
in 95 there was
s model
si model
si spl (se)
si vtec
from 88 to 94 they offered an 4ws version of the prelude

really, please enlighten me where you can find a deal like that
you can find an h22a motor only for around 1200 plus shipping.

I would do a full tune up on it and then drive it for a while and see if anything is going to need fixing...
And if you're new to preludes don't buy rims first off, because you'll probably get some heavy-*** things that you won't want in the near future....

if your H23 is solid.....b00st it!!!
no, seriously, if everything is running well, boost it.
first mod though - wanna go fast for cheap - spray it.
but why are you dissappointed? did you not realize you were buying a small motor in a relatively heavy car? its going to take time, labor, and money to go fast - in any sense of the word... welcome to our world.
