Default car will not start when cold...anyone have this problem?

If it is cooler air out side, most of the time night and morning, the car will not crank up at all. It will just turn over and over and never crank up. I am thinking it is a problem with the distributor. Has new plugs and wires. And new injectors. i have heard someone mention the Main relay going bad? Any ideas guys? It is a stock 90 ex.

it is probaly your battery. Your battery probaly has no more cold cranking amps. This just happened to my car. when your car doesn't start at night or when it is cold and you get a jump does it start then. if so it is the battery. check your clock time in your car, has it been reseting itself to 12:00 recently?

no it isnt the battery...brand new. It has to do with the something electrical like the distributor or a relay or something. This has had to happen to someone else. I took off the cap one day and took a nail file to the nodes on the rotor and cap. It then cranked up. Think it may just need a new rotor or cap? I have an extra h22 cap sitting around. Think that would fit on it?

You'll want to do what dragon tls said, replace the dist cap and rotor. Your probably getting some moisture in the cap when its cool out and when it warms up it dries out the cap.

what exactly would the moisture do? Why would that present it from starting?

Hairline cracks or tiny defects in the surface of the cap create a short circuit across the surface of the cap, when they get any moisture. Watch for arcing in the dark. As soon as the moisture dries out it's OK. If you can start it after drying the distributor cap with a hairdryer, then this is a pretty good guess.

The main relay usually screws up when the interior of the car is really hot, like sitting in the sun.

Since the starter cranks (you said??) that means the battery is good.
