Thank you all OMG Finally got it running first swap
Just got the hatch going, jdm d15b sohc vtec, the car had no acceleration what so ever yesterday, i couldnt figure the damn thing out, so i called my honda friend like 30 times, he finally got annoyed with me and said he'll be at my house in 10 minutes, i was so happy, still wondering if there was major problems, he comes and takes him 2 seconds and slaps me in the head and said dont you listen, i had the plugs hooked up wrong, and that was it. This was my first time ever doing any thing like this, one month ago i didnt even know how to change my brakes or oil, but now im almost l33t just like you guys. Thank you all for answering my questions throughout my swap. Stay up
Congrats man! I'm guessing that it feels good to do your own swap. Now if I could only do mine. Air Force base won't let me work on my car in front of my house.
I'd honestly take it easy for about a week, because if anything major was going to break, it would happen then. I even do this for used cars. When I bought my 1990 STD with 149k, I took it easy for a week or so. Then again, with only 70hp, it's pretty hard to be hard on it.
A few things:
1. Change the oil after the first 500 miles; this'll get rid of a lot of crap that the oil picks up - metal flakes, etc.
2. I'd say around 5,000 miles to break the engine in.
3. Don't ref high; take it easy until it's broken in.
4. Your engine is going to burn some oil. Usually burns about 1/2 to 1 quart of oil the 1,500 miles and less as the miles pass. After the engine is broken in, it shouldn't burn any more oil.
5. Try not to drive long distances a whole lot during the break-in period, especially the first 500 miles.
Anyhow, great job, man.

wtf, he didn't build this motor. It's used, and broken in already. (anyhow, I wouldn't break in a motor like that anyways.)
Check for leaks periodically and change the oil and filter a lilttle sooner than usual to check for any abnormalities. <--- is that a word?!
