Default Stuck Head Studs

The past times that I have taken my head off my car all the head studs came loose and I was able to remove them. But this time the three in the middle on the intake side did not. Normally I would not care but I am tearing the motor down and I need to get them out. Does anybody know how to get them loose? Thanks.

first make sure your using the long 14mm socket, no extension.
now get a long metal tube put it around the rachet and turn, it ll turn so easy you ll probably only use one hand

I ran into this one time, in the process of tearing down an engine with a warped head. The valves smacked the piston and bent four valves. Also warping the dowel pins.

pipe on the end of a socket wrench is what i used to get the headbolts out. But since you've pulled them out before...its weird that they'd be stuck. Did you soak the headbolts in oil before you put them in last time? Like stated above...use the long socket rather then a extension. Hope it works out for you

Studs or head bolts? Good strong impact socket and a breaker bar usually does the trick for bolts. For studs, locking two nuts together on the threads and turning the bottom one is my method of choice.

No the nuts are not stuck on the actual stud is stuck in the block, the head is already off the block.

i bet if you used a stick of dynamite or threw the block off a huge cliff they would come out, and if they didnt then you know yer fucked. No for real though, take two nuts tha fit the thread of the stud and thread them on, one after the other about half way down. once you have the second one (top nut) about half way down, thread the first nut (bottom one) back up against the top one and tighten it. now put some elbow grease into that **** or use an impact and viola! your headstud is now out

RIF. I understand your problem; I read your post thoroughly. Read my post again and try the two nut trick. Vise-grips will work in a pinch.

I could have sworn that I showed you that trick.

Place a 1/2" 12pt box wrench down onto the stud. Take one nut and thread it onto the stud upside-down. Then take another nut and thread it on right-side up. Use a 1/2" 12pt socket & ratchet (or another 1/2" 12pt box wrench) to lock the nuts against each other.

Use the bottom wrench to unthread the stud from the block.

I will be installing Head studs on my motor, and was wondering if there were any lug nuts in the size that the ARPs are? that should make instalation and removal really easy.

I don't see why you'd need the lug nuts for when you already have the nuts to use from the stud kit.
