Need help from 4 door owners
i'm trying to figure out what route to take for an engine in my '91 lx sedan. what motor/tranny are you using and what is your opinion of the setup?
most importantly, do you still have room for the a/c components?

i didn't have a/c in my other crxs so i don't know if they would work or not.
plus i'm sure there is a hefty weight penalty for the sedan so just wondering how much of a toll that takes on different setups.

Some sedans are actually pretty light.
The other only have about 100 pound "penalty".
Throw out the back seat and stop eating fast food and it should be good to go.

My sedan has a B20 in it. I havent driven it for about 2 months now since i started working on it but from what i remember it carried its weight well. I love the torque of the B20 but i miss the Vtec changeover of my old B20Vtec setup so sooner or later itll have a Vtec head on it.
Also, i dont have a/c in mine.

haha, actually i'm a pretty healthy eater !!!
actually, i'm putting this car on the road due to the added 2 doors. 2 kids and a wife are a tight squeeze in the gti. i just want to make sure i can still enjoy the drive with the added weight of the family.

So you need something to tow the family around in.
My car was used for that for a while.
The 1.5 won't do it.
A D-series 1.6 probably won't either.
You're looking at something with torque so don't look at the B16 either.
Go after a B18. You don't "need" VTEC so you don't "need" to spend tons of money on it either.
Add a turbo later on and you can do pretty damn fast reliably.

downside to b18, or any b for that matter, is swap cost though. mounts, etc will add up quick i imagine. i hate to spend alot of money on the car because then i feel i should just get a newer 4 door car. i don't really have the time to do the swap myself and i cringe to think what a b series swap runs these days.
d16z6, supercharged @8psi(for the low end), gutted trunk and random interior gutting. as for the a/c... roll down the freaking wondows.
you've got for of them...

well my friend had a 90 4dr. civic dx with b16a swap and intake, exhaust....it ran 15.1 and we were about to put a/c on it and he wrecked it a couple days earlier....oh and if you do a b16a swap i would def. get a ls 5th gear for highway driving unless you like cruising at 5k rpm on the highway.
well man i have a d16z6 in my civic 4dr obd-1 im just about to put the custom turbo on and i felt the difference between the 1.5 and 1.6 way different even though its not huge i love it and i have a full audio system and it go's pretty good cant wait till i have the turbo in ooooooo but just an option
I have a 1990 4 door with a DOHC ZC and a T3 .60/.63 on only 5psi and it feels good. didnt cost much either
ZC no trann+200-350 if your in the socal area k watanabe has em for liek i think 500 with a ZC trans..all you need are the 88-89 teg axles and your golden! thats a great upgrade to your 1.5 dpfi...
after you get that ZC in just Turbo it and you'll love it....
p.s
Going 10psi as soon as i get my chip burned for Turbo Edit .........

although it won't return the best performance, i'm thinking either dohc zc or d16z6. i guess it will come down to where i can get the best deal on which. it won't be turboed anytime soon because i do not want to hurt driveability.
