I've been the only voice of reason at corral.net lately. Nebraska fans don't understand why they don't deserve a shot at the title after giving up 62 and losing by 26.

Nebraska doesn't deserve a shot against Miami if Tennessee wins. Heck, they don't deserve a shot if Tennessee doesn't even play this weekend. But after Florida, Texas and Oklahoma all lost, they deserve it more than a team that lost two games (if games at the beginning of the year don't count, why play them?) and a team from the weak PAC 10 that lost to Stanford.

Also, if you consider blowouts against hot teams as a factor, shouldn't games where a team won by the skin of their teeth (VT, BC) be considered as well?

Nebraska also started the '02 freshman recruiting class on defense against Colorado, so that should be factored in the equation, too.

Colorado got crushed by Texas 41-7 earlier this year but got a rematch. So this is how to settle this thing -- Nebraska gets a rematch, too, next week against Colorado. Oregon, 10-1 champion of the weak PAC-10, plays Maryland, 10-1 champion of a weak ACC. (Maybe give Miami a warmup against Illinois.) The winners of NU-CU and OU-UM play Dec. 22, and the winner of that game plays Miami.

Easy.

And you do realize that any sane playoff system would have to include the championship games of the SEC and Big 10/12/13.5... In which case, Big Red (did the team or the gum come first?) would be playing in the CardboardFurniture.Com Bowl in Plato, Wyoming...
