K24 block... how do you tell diffference between A2, A3 or A4?
Was just curious to know... I'm researching putting together a K24 Frankenstein setup and would like to get the TSX block. I don't want to get an Accord/CRV/Element block without knowing it.
I suppose on a longblock the valve cover (Honda vs. "A" Logo) would give it away. But you know how easily that can be switched by the shady...
TIA

I suppose I should of been more specific, I'm talking JDM blocks...
I thought JDM blocks didn't have a last digit... like the DC-2R motor... it only says B18C.. How would you know which one K24 you had if it were JDM?

Do a compression test maybe? I've got a K24A4 in my garage right now (along with a K20A2 because we're doing the same thing
) and it doesn't look any different than other K24's...aside from the Element/CRV K24 because those are light-truck motors and don't have a lot of the sensors and hoses and vacuum **** to deal with.

for a sure way to tell pick up honda tuning new issue labeled special K it has EVERYTHING about different k-series blocks and how to tell them apart.

If you had TSX, CRV, Accord and Element Longblocks all next to one another, how could you tell the TSX longblock apart? What visual differences does it have? ...besides the valve cover
I do have the Honda Tuning issue with the article about the K's, it doesn't really say. It does mention all the K24's except the CRV have an EGR valve, so there's one clue.

that article was terrible... there wasnt anything that you couldnt already know from learning about these engines on honda-tech.
I've got a k24 block type s head and tranny plus ecu with clutch masters stage 3 clutch kit for sale let me know if you are interested.
An easy way to tell if you have them sitting next to each other is the deck height on the 24 is easily 3/4 of an inch taller than the 20. Plus there are a few smaller insignificant differences but thats the main one.
Is there any diffence in the K24 short blocks from Accord, Element, or TSX aside from the pistons?
I've seen and read some of the difference in the heads but don't recall reading about differences in the bottom end aside from different compression ratios I believe.

The TSX has a better crank from what I've read, it can rev a bit higher. That's why I'm after it
Pick up the latest issue of Honda Tuning October 2004. It has an article on how to do the K24 block/K20a2 head swap. Page 56. Answers a lot of questions. Also has a new Honda Fit that Mugen put a K20 in! Pretty cool!

The initial question was really not answered... I never said anything about K20's... I understand a K24 is a bit taller than a K20 due to the longer stroke... I'm not asking about the K20 head swap on a K24... I'm not interested in buying anything...
How do you tell between a K24A2, K24A3, and K24A4 block? Not the head, just the block.
TIA
