Default Problem with Integra after Timing advance....

I advanced the timing to 18 degrees this weekend, and found that the car ran noticably better.

The problem, however, arose the next day when I started the car. Rather than jump to the standard 1500rpm warming up period, it hesitated and choked its way up.

I warmed the car up and went back to the garage, and put the timing back at stock, yet it still does this.

Any idea why? I noticed it was choking when I was removing the last bolt on the distributor.

did you use a timing gun to advance your timing? maybe it's not actually 18 degrees? did u use 91 octane gas?

Timing is back to stock 16, and it still hesitates to reach the warm up stage. Any other suggestions? I did the timing belt a few weeks ago, and all went well.

Did you jump the wire on the ECU, so it your (ecu) would learn the new timing? I know that is how my ecu has to be done (92' GSR)......You didn't say what year your teg is, so if it's newer, it might have to be done differently.......

Something could be up with your Fast Idle Valve, it controls you motor's warm-up.....Take off your intake, and check to see if there is vaccum from the little port inside your throttlebody.......There should only be vaccum from that port during warm-up........

whatever man you could advance your timing as far as the distributor wil lturn and you still won't **** anyting up on a stock engine.

advancing the timing to 18 has nothing to do with a bad idle, it's some other component of the car failing and it's just a coincidence

I have to agree, I have CTRs in my B17A (tight *** clearances) and I run my distributor just shy of all the way advanced because it runs the best at that setting and I have never had any problems due to it.............I've ran it all the way advanced as well and still no problems......
