Default '94 EX Brake Shimmy - Common?

Looking to buy a '94 EX. This thing shimmies "dramatically" when braking hard to very hard (like coming off the freeway) but seems to be fine in all "more or less" gentle applications. I feel that in an emergency stop, you gotta REALLY hold on to the steering wheel, or lose it.

Seller says has done this for all 160,000 miles since he purchased it new, claims dealer states it's not unusual.

Can anyone shed some light on this? Seems pretty "un-Honda-like".

My guess would be warped rotors...very common for accords.

Check the following:

tire pressure
alignment
balancing of tires
pads/rotors

My fellow ***** is correct.

Warped rotors is the most likely explaination. The owner probably has bad driving habits that have caused that problem on a consistent basis, even when he gets new rotors.

So what "bad driving habits" warp the disks?

Or... Do I have to brake like a chauffeur to be happy with this car?

The main habit is "riding the brakes", meaning resting your foot on the brake pedal.

yes ***** 001 and 019 are speakin the truth, its very common for accords to have warped rotors, just have them resurfaced or if its that bad replaced, another way to warp rotors easy is gettin watter on them after they are hot it can bend in a hot second

My 94 EX also would shimmy when braking hard. I replaced the rotors with after market ones and about two months later they started pulsing. But now only when I brake easy - when I brake hard they are fine. Is that still a sign of warping or is there another reason for the pulsing? I probably should have bought a more expensive rotor. Is there a good after market rotor that works well or do I need to get genuine Honda (if I can save up the cash)?
