salvage title question
ok heres the story:
my car was hit last weekend in the front. its a 94 integra ls with 92000 miles on it. book value is 4500 and the damage came out to 4000. it needs a hood, fender, bumper, headlight, bumper light, and the radiator support needs to be straightened out. the guys insurance called it a total loss. so i bought it back for 700 and already have all of the parts coming in from ebay and acura forums for around 600 shipped. anyway my question is how do salvage titles work? does it automatically become a salvage even though i bought it back and plan to rebuild it? there was no frame damage. can i rebuild this title? any info will help.

some one correct me yea but i think once it has a salvaged title it will always have a salvaged title even if you fix it up back to mint condition
here in ny when u rebuild a "salvaged" car you have to go for an inspection for stolen parts, make sure the airbags are okay, and you better have all the paper work for all the **** you put in the car. haveing a salvaged title didnt effect my insurance or regular inspection but this is in ny...... and yes even after you fix it up the cars title is still branded
i havent told my insurance company that it was a total loss. it was the other guys fault and his company took care of everything. i just called my company the night it happened and told them i got into an accident and have damage to my front corner. the only way that my insurance company will know is if the other guys insurance company tells them.
your going to be issued a salvage title.
the car is now salvaged.
your going to have to repair it and have it inspected to be issued a rebuilt salvage title.
its not going to really affect anything except the cars worth.
your still going to pay the same amount of insurance etc etc.

will the salvage title come in the mail? can i drive it before i have it inspected? i have absolutely no clue about this situation. also the papers that were in the car when i picked it up say under misc. :no salvage title issued..this seems weird because the declared it a total loss because the repairs are over 75% of the value of the car.

1. Get fixed w/e u want + the minimum..
2. Go DMV register it u will get some shitty # to put on ur car and some forms
3. Break And Light Check
4. Get Salvaged title from DMV
5. Leave ugly # untill u get new plates

it was his insurance company that totalled it. it was his fault, he hit me when he crossed over the double yellow lines to pass another accident. the only way that my insurance company will find out is if i tell them or his insurance company tells them.

That's fine. You don't need to tell your insurance company that. As previously stated, it won't make a difference in insurance. Whether they know or not it's salvaged won't ever matter.

no i dont think so i had to go to the DMV to pick up some paper work ... then from there it tells u to fill out this so and so info and some areas it will specifiy u need to do a break and light inspection etc u just get that paper work go back and give it to the DMV u should get ur title rite there or mayb a temp 1... then after like a few months u will get a plate or somethin in the mail and u just replace ur plates and ur basically done
For future referenc, don't let the insurance company get your vehicle. If the accident is not your fault, you can fight it. They may say the vehicle is not worth fixing, but you can tell them if its not worth fixing, you want full value of the vehicle and want to retain it as well. They will say it is not possible but then you tell them you want it fixed. Remember, the accident was not your fault. I've done this twice and my dad has done it once before. All the vehicles we have done like this we have retained clear titles.
u fucken serious ...!!! son of a BITCH!! i coulda had my clean title stock beautiful DA
