Reground Camshafts?
I went to a local shop and they said I should get my camshafts reground. It would be a lot cheaper and they said it is almost as good. What is your guys input on reground cams? The motor is a LS with i/h/e
I'd rather spend the money on a different camshaft, I wouldn't want to flatten some lobes then have to pull them out to get reground again. Some people get lucky with them I guess, I've just heard too many horror stories about regrinds.
hmmm... sounds good. There is a place in town that has a pretty good reputation. i might try them out. I have an extra pair of cams to mess with so i'll see how it goes

A cam grinder in Washington, is not going to be able to give you Rockets grinds (only whoever is doing his) send them to Rocket or Web as a 2nd choice. Unless the guy down the street has done a bunch of non-vetec cams try someone who has. And by the way, if done correct, will last.
hi don!
don is 100% correct. the cams in my LS motor were Web reground cams. in perfect shape, after 3 years of racing and street use. get someone good to do the cams, and they will last....
a good LS motor can make power; mine was over 180 at the front wheels with tuning....
todd
ps hey don; i just finished pulling the LS motor and went high tech; i'm running the 1st K20A2 swap in the East Coast that is roadracing with Honda Challenge. stock motor and man does it pull!!!! alot of potential in that K motor, i think....

Guys, another option is http://www.coltcams.com , who I am using (and many from G2IC have used) .. he warranties his Honda regrinds for 5 years, and has never had a break in 12 years of doing Honda cams. Geoff has my business for good, great guy, even better product.
the place civichatchback14 is talking about only charges 60 bucks per cam which sounds good to me. And as far as regrinding vtec cams i dunno if its bad but this place won't even do it. (probably dont have equipment or something im not sure)
Hey, at $60.00 bucks a cam I say go for it. I have been in the business for 25 years and cannot get import cams done for that. Try them and report back, you may be on to something. Todd you wimped out, think what we could have done with the money from the conversion. lots of titanium.
