What rims fit????
Ok, I want to run 16" x 8" rims up front with 225 rubber.
My question is, will the guards have to be flared, some people say yes, and some people say no.
What offset wheels should i get for this setup?
I have seen this setup run on the Circuit Club ITR featured in best motoring vol6 withouth the gurads being flared. But i cant find any info on the offset or what was done to the guards....
If anyone could help out that would be great.

16x8?
youre going to need a hell of a setup to get 225's on those to fit.
rolled fenders, extended studs, spacer, maybe +30-33 offset wheels depending on your suspension
i wouldnt even know how to begin how to measure that. if its for tracking then full lock, loading, all come into play

i dont have any problem with doing the above, but i want to make sure that i dont need to flare the guards, i dont mind rolling the guards though.
yes it is for tracking....
i have tein re. can you someone say confidently what offset i need to run?

You are wrong.
Todd ran 15x8 on his ITR, and a +40 - 42 offset will work, with rolling the fenders a bit.

215/45/16 Azenis with 16x8" wheels, +38 offset.
Minor fender rolling, nothing major so far. And I'm lowered a fair amount, too. Just running high springrates to keep the car pretty flat. You do need the camber to get everything to tuck, however.

I'm sorry you're running into the dearth of information, but not many of us have used 8" wheels on our DC2 ITR.
Todd is someone whose comments you can trust, if that makes any difference.
Are you trying to fit into a competition class, is that the problem? Does this class allow flares? Does it allow spacer and camber adjustment?
You mentioned 225's, but the aspect ratio will also make a difference as to whether they'll fit.
We know from Todd's setup that +38 will work with negative camber and rolled fenders, and 215-45-16 Azenis. In theory, then, this should work with 225-40-16.

Are you running camber adjusted beyond the negative you got from lowering the car?
What camber are you running?
How low are you?
No problems with the suspension arms in the rear? And the rear's just rolled?
What spring rates?

WOW, thanks for all the replies guys, i am not in any special class.
I an running tein re 14kg F and 10kg R. i have a camber/castor kit on the front. camber is dialed into -3.5 at the moment.
The rear is just going to be rolled so no problem there.
Regarding flares, this is something i am trying to avoid.

your concern should be to prevent rubbing on the inner fender well (inside of the tires to the metal) at full lock.
fwiw, I currently have 15x7.5 (+40 offset) with 205/50/ 15 tires and my itr is slammed with less than 1 finger between top of tire and fender..... I don't have problems, with rubbing - just a bit under high g's on the fender liner.
I like 225's, and would run them all around - as soon as I can get a deal on something stickier than azenis..... On my hatch I run 225/50/15 street tires and 225/45/15 race tires... the race tires have MUCH more clearance.
I was looking at 15x8's in +30 or +20 for my next wheels..... You won't have to rivet in plastic fender flares to the vehicle, but you will need to heat up and bend the sheetmetal to clear the tires under load.
I believe todd00 has run 15x8's with 205/50/15 tires with no problems, but I don't know his ride height and can't remember his offset...
And I've read about a jdm race car that runs +0 offset 16x10's in the front..... I believe that is in the latest issue of GrassRoots Motorsports.
I don't have the desire to do the math right now, but if you check out what size spacers rodney uses with his 16x8 +50offset wheels, and look at what size tires he runs, you can get a good approximation of what you will need.
I can tell you that if I were to run 15x8's, it would be +30 or lower... I believe volks are available in +40 and +27 in that size... And I hear the special order ats complites are 15x8 +30 and +20... I may try a couple of those in the +20 to see what that's like... Honestly, 225's feel pretty good on a 15x8 but could stand a 15x8.5 or 15x9 from what I hear and they only seem to get better... How about a 245/40/15?
You may also want to consider what brakes you will be using with these wheels and whether clearance will be an issue (although I doubt it will be)...
Oops, I just re-read your original post. 16x8's should be fine depending on the tire you choose... With 215's, it shouldn't be a problem at all with a low +40 offset. You WILL have to roll the fenders front and rear just a bit. But you won't need to tack on any extra flares or crap.
