OBD1 troubles. EDM/USDM compatibility?
OK, I bought a P30-A00 and a boomslang harnss from a H-T member. Along with a brand new obd1 dizzy.
Yesterday I repinned the dizzy, hooked up the 02, and wanted to test the thing.
Hooked up the harness and the ECU.
At that time I had not hooked up the vtec press sw, or the solenoid, but I don't think that would be a problem.
I do not have a knock, so expecting a code from that, don't have ELD, so expecting a code from that too.
I start the car.... and it id'es really odd. On top of that it seems to try and adjest the idle all the time, as it surges from 800-1500 rpm's all the time.
I also got a CEL...as expected.
I jump the blue plug under the dash... and I expect the CEL to start blinking the codes.
...it does not. I'm told this is called a "solid CEL" and it means it is completely rejecting the current map it's supposed to be running.
I plugged the ECU in in another OBD1 car...and it runs fine on the ECU...so that's not the problem.
I don't think that not hooking up the external sensors should give me this problem...right? Might there be a difference in the EDM, and USDM harness?
I was running a PW0 on my B16 before,...and it ran fine.
Any thoughts?

Yeah there are differences.
Bear in mind that the USDM car never got a VTEC engine so that's two wires you are going to need to add, also they only got one o2 sensor, so check that as well.
The ELD is probably wired in so check that, and again for some wierd link to the alternator.
Grab the VT crx manual and check the wiring in that against one of the wiring diagrams from pgmfi and your harness.
