Default My head is cracked! Any alternitive options?

I have a 92 prelude Si and the head appareently cracked on it, it was overheating and I took it to my mechanic to get it checked and he says the head is cracked, and it'll be $1000 in parts and labor (i think, my mom took the call ) Anyways, besides a new h23 or maybe a h22 is there anything cheaper (i'm in college) to go with like welding the crack or repairing it in some way. I'm already low on $$$ now and yes I do have a job but with all this money going down the drain with a car that has 125xxx miles and I've only had it for 2 or 3 months I might have to sell it. God I haven't had any luck with ludes' my first one I wrecked and this one the engine is fucked! I am cursed what else can I do? Any options will be greatly appreaciated. And on h motors online a whole engine goes for 1000-1300 dollars is this a better way to go, in the long run?

Buy a used h23 head and replace it. They are cheap. Look in classifieds, or ask AndyD. I am sure he can hook you up.

I got a spare complete H23 head in good condition I will sell for fairly cheap. PM me if ya need it.

Magnaflux is some stuff you spray onto an engine part in stages and it shows you if there's a crack in the part. You must do this on engine parts b/c a lot of the time a crack will be very small and it can't be seen by the naked eye.

EDIT - and I wanna know how the HELL you cracked an H23 head?! Did the headgasket blow or something?

NO WELDING. Bad idea it'll warp the head. You have to take the car apart just as much to swap the head. Get an $80 head and put it on there. It would cost about the same to weld it and then mill it to fix the warpage.
