Default Mandrel Bent VS Crush Bent (3" catback)

Ive got a dillema. My 2"/2.25 (some spots are different lol) is hacked to **** and today fell apart

So I need to replace my exhaust. I dont have a lot of money so Im basically just going to the muffler shop and saying I want a 3" ________ bent exhaust with a maganaflow muffler and this resonator.

My car is spraying right now but next summer will be doing both turbo and nitrous so I know I want a 3" but would it affect performance that much if I went crush bent? Becuase I dont have a grip of cash right now and my exhaust is mangled and I cant wait for more

How much of a price difference should it be?

Thanks

Most Exhaust shops don't have a mandrel bender. so if you go to them you may not have a choice.

I saw a post some time back that was advertising a company that sold a 3" mandrel bent exhaust kit that just came with all the pipe and you ad your own muffler / resonator and weld it all together. I think it's one of the H-T sponsors that carries it.

That would probably be user Kteller8. His website is http://www.kteller.com

You can buy pre-mandrel-bent kits in 2.25", 2.5", or 3"

That's so true. Probably if not all. From what I've heard, mandrel benders are VERY expensive and most exhaust shops can't get their money back. It kinda sucks though...piping is piping and I hate spending more money just on a name...

They are expensive but i cant believe how hard it is to find places that have them, if you have a bender you can make as much money as you want.

True....I know that all my friends would get their exhaust redone in mandrel bends......as I will too if I ever find a place with one.

If you're saying that crush bends are just as good as mandrel, then you are very mistaken.

yes mutch mutch better flow with mandrel. think about it, with crush you have all those little ripples in every turn, when the air flows over those it causes turbulance and your smooth air flow goes down the *******

No sorry, I should have been more specific. I meant mandrel bent custom vs. mandrel bent brand name should be the same thing, granted they use same material, yes?

thickness of piping on the exhaust comes into play with the overall sound/weight of the exhaust.

thin wall doesnt dampen the sound very much but its very light , thick wall is the opposite.

just , FYI...
