Its a Civic with a Red SI on the back of it. I think the motor is a b16 or b18

civic type r's don't exist in the U.S. unless someone is importing them, but they're not worth it.

Is the car in good condition? Yeah, $8,500 is a good deal on those cars; assuming you get one that is in awesome condition.

Just to let you know the car you are talking about is a 1999-2000 civic SI. Civic Type-R is a hatchback, and is not sold here.

I dunno man,Sounds like its just a 99-00 Civic Si that some goon is calling a civic Si type R. If it is infact a Si then the stock engine should be the B16. Get us more info so we can help you out.

..adam..

Maybe the guy trying to sell it is a ricer and doesnt know any better. I would never buy a ricers car, they don't treat them very well.

Not that I would buy an EM1 anyway, but if you want it then have it checked out first. Remember to ask a lot of questions, if he doesnt like you asking questions don't buy it.

the 99+ si's has a b16a2 engine. it is not a type r. type r's are in japan and are hatches. how many miles, condition, paint, how about a picture. if its all good then ya $8500 is pretty decent for a 00 si.

Punch the owner in the throat for telling you it was Civic Si Type R and then grab the keys and gouge his eye's out. I hate when people try to pull stupid **** like that on unknown people. Just pass on the car cause that guy is an idiot and the car is probably **** and change the oil like every 20k miles or never. **** him.

when I bought my ej1 many moons back, I didn't know **** about honda's, so I took it to the dealer and spent 100bux on an extremely thorough once over...they gave me a printout showing every miniscule detail and what condition the functional parts of the car were in and overall condition of the car...I talked with the guy who looked it over and also got his opinion just for kicks.....

while I'm not sure if they could/would do this to a modded car, it's not a bad idea for a first timer....and you'll find out more since the dealer has nothing to gain/lose from the deal....just my $.02 though...good luck

It's an Si. B16 engine. Decent looking car and a very good base. If it's in good condition and under say...80k miles, then it's a good deal.

Edit: if the guy selling it to you told you it was a Type-R then he should automatically subtract $1000 from the price and let you kick him in the nads.
