If I need new brake pads at 30,000 miles is that about normal?
My rears are dead at ~24,000 miles.
The fronts are replaced with Hawk pads for track events.... so I can't say how much longe they will last.
The factory stuff is ~1/2 gone on the front.

Hey Edwin, when I ompared my rear brake pads to my new AEM pads the wear was minimal where I could barely see any wear. The front however were so worn I could clearly see how much thinner my pads were.

I went in the dealership to get an alignment at about 45 thousand miles or so.. dont really remember and i asked them to check my brakes for me and they asked me if I just had a new set of pads put in recently because my brakes looked like they had just been changed... I dont know.. something doesnt seem right. 45 thousand miles?? Then again I've had no problems with the brakes ever and they are still running strong(though i do think the lines need to be bled a little). I am still on the original set of pads..

mine went at 11K or so. Will, why did your rears wear quicker than your fronts?

My HP+ hawks have lasted ~15,000 miles + 3 track days & 1 solo. Not bad for WAY outbraking stock pads & being cheaper to boot. Who cares if they dust a bunch & squeak if you brake easy - it's just an excuse to brake harder!!

The fronts are at ~3/5 of the original thickness. Only street use (and one track session) on those.
Make sure that the rear pads are installed correctly... the piston has a "X" in it. The pad has a little metal kn0b on it... the kn0b has to fit inside the "X".

I've got 34k and the pads look like new all the way around. Is it the track thats killing your pads or what. I'm not exactly a baby on the brakes and they are still thick??? Maybe most you guys are 500 lbs?

My first track day with this R was with 75% stock pad material remaining. 4 - 30minutes sessions on ~2 mile course (max speed on any straight = 95-100 mph).
When I got home, I noticed some squeaking & found ~ 0-1mm material left on front pads (part of the outside pass side was see-through)!
If you track - stock pads won't hold up at all. After 5-6 laps of 15, everytime they became MUSH! If you are just driving around the street - the stock pads work better then most cars - they just can't handle the sustained high-heat track stopping required for the track.
