---I need advice on B16B motor!!!---
Hey.. i just swapped in a B16b into my 98 hatch..
it has stock everything..
but the problem is that i feel like im loosing a lot of power at the lower end...
also my vtec kicks in at 6200 RPM...
I know that the B16B is a touring motor.. not drag motor..
but I want to increase my acceleration at the lower end...
would lowering my vtec engagement point help with my acceleration?
or clutch and flywheel?
I need opinions!!!!
Thanks for looking

I have a b16b in a 98 hatch. It is not a drag motor that is for sure. It is not a slow motor though. I put down a 14.9 at 93 mph. This is will a full interior and all seasons + I weigh 220lbs. Not bad but not that fast. Mods are i/h/e an tuned emanage. The car is a blast to drive on the street. I used to have a 13 flat sec wrx and this car is a lot funner to drive than that was. However I bulit the car for autocross and as soon as my wheels came in that is what I will be doing. I would also like to do uphill and down hill mountion races. With a little head work and cams you could get it down to a high 13 sec 1/4 mile. If 1/4 mile is what you are looking to do. You could also get a type r crank rods and pistins and make it a 1.8. I am sure that you could hit low 13's with that, head work, and cams. For me my next mod is a 4.9 final drive. I want to rip through gears on some back mountain road. The motor is a great motor dont let anyone tell you you wasted your money. My vtec is set at 5500 rpm. You could give that a shot. I picked up a lot of midrange check out my dyno https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=946313
I have a 6b and my tec also hits at 6 or aroung there. I have a Spoon flywheel in mine and the car does feel slow until it gets above 6, but then it rips. If you're looking for more low end, I think you may have chosen the wrong motor, unless you do stroke it to a 1.8. I agree with the last cat though, I LOVE my motor, but at the same time i do get kinda tired of having to rev it to the moon to be quick. I ran 14.8's with a stock clutch and street tires, but I know the car would dip 13's on slicks and a clutch, and I have stock ecu, header and air box. The only upgrade(s) I have is full Spoon exhaust, Spoon flywheel and Spoon headgasket..........don't lose hope brother!!
