Default H22 Wiring problems!-Distributer

right now we are trying to put a 01 H22 into a 97 accord EX but were having a problem getting a wiring harness to work. the H22 has an obd1 prelude harness on it because it was in an obd1 civic.everyone says to use the stock F22 harness. i have no problem extending wires but the problem with that is the F22 only uses an internal coil in the distributer and the H22 uses an external coil. i reasearched this swap all over and noone has said anything about distributer wiring. i gotta get this car together today and im stuck on the harness. thanks guys

i checked http://www.accordinglydone.com and came up dry on the dizzy wiring.

the obd1 h22 distributer wires and internals are not compatable with the obd2 f22 distributer. maybe i need an obd2 h22 distributer?? my obd2 f22 harness has 5 wires for the distributer if that helps.

The beauty of Helms manuals is that you can figure the wiring out yourself without having to consult the internet. Just see if you can get the two diagrams and then match up the appropriate wires

http://www.collectiveracing.ne...t=135 I ran into the same problem only with the H23 I got my hands on a JDM H22 dist. removed all internals, and replaced them with the Accord dist internals. Main issue was remembering the wiring for the ignitor. Once that was straight it started right up.

thanks for the insite guys. i dont have a helms manual and i really dont feel like buying one for a prelude and one for an accord. ill end up just figuring it out on my own. or, if the accord dizzy guts fit into the h22 dizzy ill be fine too? i hope

Take the housing apart and use the internals from the distributor you have that works in the H22 housing

nope, i wish. i have an obd1 h22 dizzy with this swap and the car is obd2. does anyone know if the obd2 h22 dizzy has 5 wires coming out of it like the obd2 f22 does. because the obd1 h22 dizzy has like 10 wires so i dont see how i could even swap any internals on that.

if your harness has external wiring all you have to do is run black/yellow stripe wire from the external coil plug to the black/yellow stripe wire on the dizzy plug...and leave the other two wires alone......check out hondaswap.com
and looke up any posts by a guy named tab...look on his signature and click on the link..he has many pictures and the dizzy wiring is one.

Hey, im not 100% sure of your problem but when I put my obd2 h22 in my accord I had problems too. the original f22 harness had 5 wires for the distributor and a separate plug with 4 wires for the TDC and CPK(if i remember the names correctly) sensors. However, the h22 distributor had 9 wires and no wires were the crank was so I had to match my 9 with the f22 5 and 4 wire plugs. Colors were all jacked up and i ended up finding the answer in this weird asian car manual. If you are having this problem..lol...let me know and i know the exact wires. haha im not sure of your problem.

i tried swapping internals and i tried running wires but the problem is the h22 dizzy has 9 wires and the f22 harness has 9 wires. there are extra wires. i didnt get a chance yet to check out hondaswap.com ill check now real quick but this thing has to be running within the hour.

i dont think everyone realizes this is a full OBD2 swap. all the info i find is for OBD1 such as running the wires for the coil.

i searched TAB and cant find anything for obd2 from him.
