More Mid Ohio pictures - better late than never...
Hey Kids -
Here's some more pix from Mid Ohio last weekend. Sorry it took me awhile to get these up, I shoot on film so have to scan/edit/etc...and my "real" job actually made me work this week.
Also - should mention thanks goes to Lawrence Mansier and the OH/IN region of NASA for making these available. This is just one of the extra things Lawrence helps coordinate as an added bonus for the region. These will be posted on http://www.racenasa.com as well eventually.
ALL 150 PHOTOS (if you're bored): http://www.pbase.com/markusf/nasa
Why does poor Team Toilet always end up off the track?!? (This was after someone else blew an engine/dropped some oil in T1)
I think this is El Pollo being chased by the TL.
I don't want to ruin Andy's e-thug reputation but him and his crew were a great group of guys.
HC was some great racing as always.
This guy was lifting the rear wheel so long around T1 it stopped spinning. Way to lift that leg puppy.
Entering Madness.
Finally, after trying to get good pix of everyone else someone gets one of the pimpy Meotter in return!
If anyone likes any of these contact me for prints or high res scan files.
Hope to see everyone at Beaverun!

Does this mean I can say I rolled an M3?
I felt bad for that poor guy, more evidence anything can/does happen once you hit the track.

The Miata that rolled, was the guy ok? Was that in a SM race or HPDE (I ask because I am not sure if SM allows you to run without a hardtop, I think they do now, correct?)
It was the orange #10 Miata. He hit the tire wall on the left side of the track at the base of the Honda bridge between 9 and 10. I was there when it happened. Basically just bounced from the tires and landed on the driver's side of the car. The driver walked away.

Forgot to add, but it was during Sunday's SM race.

Yeah that was an incident in Time Trials Saturday afternoon on like the 2nd or 3rd lap. The guy was fine and even appeared to be in good spirits afterward. As someone who has lost an engine on the track I know that things sometimes hit you later but still he seemed to have a good attitude about things.
The Spec Miata guy was also totally fine. There was some hard contact in the AI race, a Mustang driver went to the hospital for a broken bone or two in his foot but overall he is ok too. Then there were all the HC incidents.
There were more damaged cars that weekend than I had ever seen at a dry event. I'm very grateful that everyone walked away fine.
As I kind of mentioned before, anything can happen when you step on the track, whether it be during an HPDE/time trial session or wheel to wheel race. I have a good rollbar, seats and harnesses in the Miata and I don't know if I would be comfortable doing it any other way. There was a guy driving a 70's Chrysler muscle car in the time trials...I hate to think what would have happened had it been him that rolled (weaker body structure, no bar/harnesses, factory 70's era weak vinyl seats).
I know we all want to go faster out there but safety first.
Done rambling...for now...

Yeah that was David's M3 that blew up on the back straight... right in front of me. He's a good guy and has a positive attitude about the whole thing. At least he was uninjured. Apparently BMW has a service bulletin out right now for bad connecting rod bearings in his model year. They are sending a field engineer to take a closer look at his car. Maybe they can help him out. I have the incident on video and the motor lets go right before he enters the braking zone at the end of the back straight (T5 on pro-course T7 on club-course). He never had a chance to really brake for the corner. He oiled down the rear tires and spun.

Hey, let me know if you hear anything more about David's BMW. That would be nice if he could get at least some help with getting it back on the road.
