We have a 1991 Honda accord and the fan comes on after we stop the car and does not shut off. We have replaced 3 different parts and nothing seems to work. My mechanic is baffled because he says the 3 parts are the only part it could be. Sorry for being so vague as I do not know the name of the parts.I should also mention that the thermostat gauge in the car also jumps all over the place and says it is always running on hot. But the mechanics have disconnected it and it still shows hot so it is not working correctly.

 

When this happend on my Accord it was the fan relay.

 

Thanks already replaced the fan relay. That did not work.

Have you replaced the fan timer unit located under the glove box?

Thanks for your reply - My mechanic checked the manual and it said that the fan timer was under the steering wheel. He called Honda and they say that there is no such part. We all know that there is this part . Is there a chance that it is under the steering wheel or can you tell me where under the glove compartment it is as we have looked and were unable to find anything. Could you tell me what the part looks like (colour etc)

I seem not able to locate the fan timer here but maybe someone here would be able to locate this for you.

Nothing that I can see there.

 

The fan timer is to the left of the steering column on models with auto transmission and on the left kick panel wall for models with manual to clear the clutch pedal assembly.. I am still trying to figure out how to get the unit out of a model with manual. It is impossible to reach the bolt holding it. If anybody has done this, please help.

 

The fan timer on this car is under the dash on the driver's side bolt it on the side panel right above the fuse box. It's a black little box and not the cruise control silver box with the main relay behind. Just stick your head under the steering dash and you'll see it.
Though it rarely goes bad but the best place to get it for cheap is the junkyard.
