Why are you using 93 octane for a LS?

Do you have hig compression?

89 is more than enough unless your ls is not stock....like FI, N/A....

And mixing 89/93 doesnt matter.

HX_guy if i told you i was running a high C/R would you have told me the answer to my question? it probably wouldn't have made the difference would it?.... nope so if you think its dumb of me to put 93 in my LS plzz dont post and ask me why. and o yeah, to answer your question you asked me ....its my personal choice to put 93 in.

Guys, just let him **** his o2 sensor if he isn't going to listen.

Question for AutoLS: I hope you don't think high octane gas give you better performance. Because believe it or not 87 octane burns better then 93 octane. Higher octane gas is less voitile then lower octane gas.

"not going to listen"
haha i try to absorb as much info on honda-tech as i can. i saw sw388 post just after posting. but some members here dont want to answer my question. but just question my own questions.

anyways.... "Guys, just let him **** his o2 sensor " see i wasnt awhere of that possibly happening. and no i dont think higher octane gives better performance.

Why is everybody being so touchy?

autoLS- nobody was attacking you, just trying to help you out by saving money if you don't need to spend it

Ok sorry

Ill give a better answer.

The higher octane will not have any bad effects on your car, not even on the O2 sensors (110 octane race gas will ruin O2 sensors because of the lead in the gas).
If you mix two different types of octane that wont effect anything on a bad way either.

Going with the higher octane will not help you though if you dont need it.

Since we're on the topic..
My GS-R says "Premium Only" on the dash, but I've been told I don't really need to put premium in.. I don't want to risk it yet. Anyone know if it's worth it or not? BTW it's a 94 with 85K. No idea about the compression though.
Thanks.

i dont know but, when i use 91 octane fuel, it lasts longer. like, more miles per gallon.

the 87 burns too quick.

and how can 91 octane **** up my 02 sensor? or whatever that guy said.

Running high octane like 103 ALL THE TIME on a stock engine, will not burn all the fuel, which damages(shortens the life) the O2 sensor. Kinda like when you blow your head gasket collant gets into the exhaust and kills the O2 sensor.

in a GSR you could run on lower than 91 if you wanted.. your knock sensor would pull back timing and you might lose a bit of power.. and under some conditions your car will be more prone to knocking. but the knock sensor isn't there so you can spend less money on gas, it's to help safeguard your engine. i would use premium, it's only like 2 bucks extra when you fill'er up

I think you need to clarify the difference between burning "better" and burning "slower." You earlier claimed that 87 OR burned "better" because it was more volatile. Volatility is generally a bad thing in spark ignition engines. Slower flame fronts usually promote more complete, even combustion, providing a smooth pressure curve.

I've never heard of higher octane causing incomplete combustion.
