Default IACV, IAT, idle problems, MAP experts! - need help

i cant seem to find a solution.

im getting 3 codes:
3 - map
10 - iat
14 - iacv

i figured out today that the mechanic had the plugs backwards for the iacv and iat, so i corrected those, checked continuity to the ecu, made sure the voltage and ground are proper. everything checks out.

i also cleaned out the iacv with brake cleaner, removed the fitv and cleaned it and screwed it in not even 1 full revolution. the iacv clicks also when i jumped it from a9 - a23.

the map sensor i checked continuity, voltage, ground and everything checks out.
however when measuring pin d17 and d21, the manual says to get approximatly 3v, i am getting about 5v. is this the map sensor?

the iat has 0.4ohms of resistance like the manual says so i believe its good.
the tps was set to 0.32 (factory setting).

no one knows what the problem is, and im pretty stumped myself.

after doing what i did today, now the car will hold idle at about 900 instead of 1,000. the idle adjust screw only lowers it more not higher. the car stumbles worse when given slight gas, hard gas makes it rev up normally.

it also sounds like air is trying to come OUT of the intake. the motor automatically revs up and then it makes a slight pop sound out of the intake. what is this?

at about 1,500 rpms the motor sounds like its hitting a rev limiter if your very slight on the accelerator. is this caused by the map sensor?

jdm b16 obd1, p28 ecu

please someone help.

wow...sounds kinda serious man...you got me too...air coming OUT of the intake is definatly not cool...not even a cool thought. Sucks to hear that... bump anyways. Good luck

this my sound stupid but have you messed with the throttle body??? check the gasket and make sure that its on right. i had mine on backwards and it sounded let it was hitting a rev limiter at about 1000 to 1500 RPM. this might be part of your problem. i don't know but it worth chaecking out. good luck man!

i took the throttle body off today again. i tried with the gasket off, no leaks, still same problem.

thanks for the suggestions guys, anything you can think of simple or not. lets hear them.

crank position sensor and map sensor wires mixed up perhaps? they mixed up the other 2 wires so why not right?

well even though the mechanic set the timing you might want to check it yourself just to be sure. Ive seen mechanics jack the simplest things up.

A small vacuum leak will throw a IACV code. I checked EVERYTHING with mine. Sprayed carb cleaner all over the gaskets to check for vacuum leak, cleaned and almost replaced the IACV. it turned out to be my Cruise control vac line. It had come off. The extra air in the manifold was throwing the code. Once the IACV code is on, the car idles exactly as you described. You should try going back and checking the vac line connections and make sure none of them have leaks. Good luck!!!

update:

i replaced the iat, and map sensors, and the codes for those sensors are gone.

i am still getting a code 14 for the iacv, my car still sounds like it hits the limiter at 1,500. the vtec doesnt engage. and the car feels like it is controlling the throttle instead of my gas pedal. so much that it makes the car jerk.

that is exactly what mine did...I had actually "fixed" the problem by turning the idle screw all the way down. With the throttle body mostly closed at idle, the extra air from the leak made it idle correctly with no codes. I didn't realize the problem until I went on a road trip and my cruise didn't work. When I fixed the leak, it would choke off at idle because the TB was closed!

The cruise line usually is on the lower back side of the intake mani.

some one has already mentioned it and ou said you double checked already, but when i had something similar to this, my timing was off. the timing belt was off by one teeth, and it feels like airs coming out the intake and it hesitates to rev up.

But if you say you are 100% the cam gear and crank poulley are both at TDC together then i have no idea. good luck.

Have you tried running a jumper wire direct from the ecu. Some of my sensors actually run right off the ecu because the obd2 gsr harness for somereason doest just plug and play to my 94 dx harness. I had those similar codes for like ever. Ran wires direct from the ecu and vallah no more CEL...
