Default Burning Oil Question

I have a 1990 Civic hatchback, STD model with a stock D15B with 16 valves - the car was made in Canada. Anyhow, when my car hit 195.000 miles, I had this engine rebuilt. At 195,500 miles, I had the oil changed.

Here's the thing: 1,500 miles later, at 197,000 miles, I wash the car and decide to check the oil and it's down 1/2 a quart of oil.
To me, this seems like a similar version of what was happening to my enginebefore it was rebuilt.
It just seems that after a complete engine rebuild, my car shouldn't be burning any oil.

What do you guys think?
