mini me on a d15b1
ive searched for quite a while and have not found this engine (d15b1) mentioned anywhere as being eligable to accect a VTEC head. i saw d15b2 mentioned a lot. how similar are these engines? is it possible on the d15b1, which is in my 91 std. to do the swap??? basically the car sucks and i want to make it faster, and i think MPFI/mini-me is a good start. thanks for the help.
yeah, it's possible, not really very different from the 92-95 swaps.
but is it worth it? most of these engines are getting long in the tooth; i was planning a mini-me, but decided just to swap the whole motor. my d15 has 243k miles on 100% stock internals (neither the pan or head have ever been removed), and i'm not entirely sanguine about the bottom end's durability.
i can get a d16z6 for around 300 bucks or so, with less than half the miles of my stock motor. freshen it up, throw new gaskets and seals on it, lapp the valves, and it should be good for another 200k easy.

i would just do the mini-me if you dont have to many miles on your motor.I would swap to an L3 tranny though cause 4 long gears is gonna suck with a mini-me setup.....
