Noise from engine bay sounds like crickets
When my car is idling I can hear what sounds like crickets coming from around the tranny. It is such an annoying noise but I havent had any performance loss so I dismissed it. Yesterday I noticed that when I depress my clutch the noise goes away. I had my clutch replaced 8,000 ago. I ordered a clutch kit.. exeddy I think? What can I do to make the noise go away or is there a future problem on my hands?
It's not the hood latch unfortunately. Had the hood up and it is still there. It only goes away when i put pressure on the clutch pedal. I can barely tap the clutch pedal and the noise goes away. Other than the cricket noise it works perfectly..so far..knock on wood..
it almost sounds like an exeddy problem. Alot of people with the exeddy organic clutch seem to be having this weird noise problem. Did the kit come with new throwout bearing and all that good stuff ?
Honestly im not sure..the shop that did it for me ordered it and charged me like $225 for the kit. And it was fine at first..I'd say about 5,000 miles later the noise appeared.
It sounds like you didnt replace the throw out bearings and now they are going bad. I know that my throw out bearings sounded like that when they went bad and the noise would also go away when i pressed the clutch in.
Sounds like a bad throwout bearing like darockjc stated.
sorry about your luck, you might be able to get it fixed by the shop that originally replaced the clutch.

bad throw out is deff your problem if it goes away when you press the clutch in. Get it fixed. When i disregarded mine on my talon it locked up and sent my differential through the housing...big repair bill.
That sucks.. I wanna do a H22A swap but was gonna hold off as long as the engine was running as good as it is. I suppose i'd better start pricing some swap jobs.. Really dont want to drop 400 more basically on just labor. I wish I could do it but that is a little advanced for my knowledge.. Thanks for the info tho guys
honestly ounce you get the tranny out its really easy. Anyone can work on cars if they have a book in fron tof them and some common sence
Common sense is basically the basis of my skills- radiators, oil changes, exhaust/ header installs- all can be done with a socket wrench and a bit of determination.. but once you start geting into clutch jobs and removing tranny's it's a matter of having the proper tools and knowledge.. a step by step book would be key but still intimidating for a novice like myself
