mid ohio sunday in car vids
hi.
i've got two vids from my in car cam; one of the start and one of the after the black flag restart.
they are a little over the we-todd limit, and i have no where to host them; anyone got somewhere for me to stick them for a day or two?
thanx
ps on the clips i got some great footage of Ian's hood flying up and smashing the windscreen, plus the big pileup in madness, plus two cars blowing engines massively....

ps matt, this is my first time ever trying to convert from a tape to a vid clip. i'm using an ancient (free) board called "dazzle" and a 500 mhz computer. give me a break, man!

i can't touch those fast H4 guys (i think Marhefka and definitely Kent!) in the corners or brakes (partially the weight difference (i'm ballasted up over 2350 now); partially the driver, mostly the tire difference) but i sure as hell put them away in the straights, dammit!
god, i love having vtec!!! or should i say ivtec??
i sent another clip, the one of the start, madness pileup, ian's hood flip-up, and motor blowout to Adam. hopefully it'll be up soon!
later,

holly **** when ian's hood flew up that was nuts</TD></TR></TABLE>
when his hood flew up, i was thinking: "please o please don't swerve; drive straight, mang!" he had ZERO visibility; i mean, he was strapped in tight; couldn't put his head out the side window; he just stayed calm and drove perfectly straight and slowed down gently. i mashed it and got the hell out of there!
and yes, you can clearly clearly see the pileup in madness, and can see the last H4 car (kofod, i think) plow in at a high rate of speed and almost jump up off the ground. i could clearly hear the KABLAAAAAM-CRUNCH from inside my car over the scream of the engines. also, you can't see it too clearly, but off to my left another car was off in the grass, sliding, and i feared he would hook inside and collect me into the pileup. he didn't (good driving, roedinger
) and we continued on.....
exciting first lap, no?
personally, i prefer the less exciting version, as we usually have them in our "standard" ECHC races!!!!

Nice vids Reid .. a little highly pixelated, but hey.
From that video, the pile up doesn't seem as dire as some of the descriptions in the other threads. It doesn't look any worse then the pile up in ITA/S/7 at the Barber SARRC. Only local yellow for that one as well. I was passed under yellow once or twice going through there. Some other cars got collected there later in the race, etc.

Todd, it's too bad you passed me on the front straight. I wanted to see some in-car video of me going off at T1 in Colin's oil slick. I was on your 5 o'clock going through the corner when I lost it and hit the wall.

i could just see the oil smoke as i was approaching turn one, and as you can see on the vid, i purposely didn't track all the way out (where the oil slick really started, i think). otherwise, it might have been both of us sliding off there!
todd
ps there was HELLA smoke coming around that turn; it seemed much more than the vid shows; like i could barely see where i was going!

I just got Zimmerman's in car and didn't realize the impact of hitting Ed's car was all that bad .
WRONG !!!!
I didn't have in car video becasue I left my camcorder at the hotel expecting to pick it up at lunch but then they changed race time and I was screwed.
Watching from Andrew's in car the impact was enought to bounce my car up in the air (all 4 wheels got off the ground).
At this juncture we have bent suspensions parts (control arms, tie rods, broken ball joints) and the axle and inner CV joints. Once we get it on an alignment machine we'll know what else is damaged.
I was feeling good about the damage until I saw this in car video. Now I am not sure there isn't more damage that will be found.
Regards,
Jon
